Lucas told me he has seen all the summer movies since his company, Industrial Light and Magic, does most of the special effects. The only one they didn't work on was "Spider-Man 3." What did he think of it?

"It's silly. It's a silly movie," he said. "There just isn't much there. Once you take it all apart, there's not much story, is there?"

Well, it's not "Star Wars."

"People thought 'Star Wars' was silly, too," he added, with a wink. "But it wasn't."

Ah...you beat me to it. :csad:

Anyhoo...George Lucas is the least of all people that should be calling Spider-Man 3 'silly'

Jar-Jar Binks anyone?

And 'lacking a story'? Gimme a break Mr. Plotholes. :whatever:

he's got all the money in the world to say whatever he damn well pleases. The first line is probably why he called it silly. ILM didn't work on spiderman 3 graphics

so was C3P0 losing his head in the cgi factory supposed to be serious?

As if I didn't hate that f***ing t**t enough.

That fat old beyatch shouldn't be able to comment about movies at all -- he's just pissed off because the acting wasn't wooden, the dialogue resembled somebody over the age of three had written, and that some of the shots didn't have any CGI in it.

F**k off, you lil beyatch!!!!!!

No George you dumbass, there is too MUCH! story for one film... Just because you didnt get a bit of the pie that spiderman 3 had raked in this weekend :down

maybe sm3 is a bit silly, but of all the people he is the last one who should say that.

What the hell?

Is he aware he made Star Wars Eps 1-3 which have some of the biggest plot holes in movie history? Also at least Raimi is smart enough NOT to hire Ewan McGregor.

Lucas has no right to comment on this film given the fact that he has only done 3 quality films. Raimi now has done 6 that I have seen.

Hahahaha there are like 4 million stories crambled in the damn movie and he says "there's not much story"... give me a break...

S*** Wars.

D!

Lucas....you already screwed up the Star Wars prequels...don't become the George Bush of ILM.

Christ, people...the guy was asked his opinion, like every opinion that's been given since Spider-Man 3 was released. This is such a non-issue.

He didn't like...like alot of people didn't like. Alot of people didn't like his Prequels. Alot of people liked Spider-Man 3. Alot of people liked the Prequels.

So, just lay off. Again, it's such a non-issue, even if you do agree with the guy....

Lucas thinks he is the best... but noooooooo!

He thinks he is so smart... but noooooooooo!

He thinks he is so popular... but noooooooooooooo!

I don't like what he says because it's the pot calling the kettle black. He's a hypocrite.

Oh, Georgie is just jealous 'cause silly Spidey3 did better on the box office the 2nd day that RotS on opening day :p

haha....oh man...what irony. George calling Spidey silly...
Raimi wasn't the guy who made the infamous "sand speach" or invented Jar Jar binks....or hired mAnakin Skywalker.
:)

He's right. He's not Kubrick, but he's right.

I have to agree. He doesn't need to be a great director to see the silliness of SM3. For example, I'm kind of a jackass, but I can still recognize another jackass when I see one.

Kanon,

With the 8 million dollar Tuesday, Spider-Man 3 didn't break Episode III's five day record which could lead to Spider-Man 3 not making the same amount domestically as Episode III did in 2005.

If it keeps falling, George will have the last laugh....

It's ok, I'm just saying George is jealous. I don't mind. Spidey could end up with only the 12 pesos I paid for all I care :p

Also at least Raimi is smart enough NOT to hire Ewan McGregor.

 McGregor was one of the best things about the prequels.

Seriously though, while Lucas has done crap, he is still entitled to his opinion.

Jar Jar.

But actually, the movie WAS pretty silly most of the time. Anything that wasn't an action scene was pretty much only useful for laughing at.

As a director, Lucas, has only made two good movies. American Graffiti and Star Wars. Everything else has been crap!

As a director, Raimi, has made 10 good movies!

lmao

Lucas has a right to his opinion and everything.

But you know every complaint and criticism I've seen against Spider-man 3 I can see being pretty relevant to the Star Wars Prequels.

Bad melodrama? Check.

Tons of convenient story COINCIDENCES? Check.

Too long? Check.

Plot holes? Check.

Silly and campy? Check.

Lucas put plenty of stupid comedy in the Star Wars prequels that was never in the original trilogy.
