George Lucas

None. Maybe it would be nice if he used his power and celebrity to help FF as an executive producer, but these days I doubt Lucas would be happy with such a limited role.

I don't think comic book properties would work well with Lucas, but Spielburg on the other hand.... imagine Namor or (DC- I know) Aquaman film made by Spielburg? Personally, I think that would be great.

I don't judge a director on his previous work. If I did, "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure" would've kept me away from "Batman" & "Flatliners" would've meant that "Batman & Robin" could never happen. Judge a director by his attitude toward the material, not what he's done w/something totally unrelated.

I agree 100%

But Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, while nothing like Batman, obviously, was far from a bad movie.

I could give you a fantastic attitude towards any number of movies, it doesn't mean I'm qualified or know anything about directing to accomplish my vision.

or Thor, though I would prefer Peter Jackson

Okay-maybe I phrased it wrong. I can't think of any director who I'd call incompetent or untalented. But regardless of how talented a filmmaker may be, it's his approach to the project that matters in the end.
And Schumacher did have a bad attitude toward his Batman projects, as he purposely set out to get away from the dark, grim vision of Batman, & has gone on record saying he didn't understand why the lighthearted tone of the TV series had been abandoned.

hmm...
A Thor film would be very interesting to see.

seriously? even Uwe Boll?

Sadly not as a director; he has really has problems getting solid performances out of his actors.
However having him as a producer would be great IMO since he know the financial side as well the technical aspects of making a movie and being cost effective.

I mean despite the criticisms , you have to admit that the stuff he did with the prequels ( blue screen shooting , digital camera shooting , animation etc) is pretty good from a filmmaking POV.

FF would be the obvious choice since it does deal with other world and Big VFX sequences.

^
I agree. While he's not a bad director per se, I think he is a much better producer. He really made those prequels look pretty I have to say and his foray into digital filmmaking was pretty groundbreaking I gather...no matter what some may feel about the medium.

We should put tape around Marvel studios saying "George Lucas DO NOT CROSS"

With his over-reliance on CGI effects and characters and lack of ability to get good performances out of good actors, I'd like for him to stay away.

That's just illogical. Every profession, and hell, every hobby has it's good and bad participants. Why would directing be any different?

Obviously, I would never defend Schumacher's vision for Batman, and yeah, having the proper vision for the character(s) your adapting is extremely important, but if you don't have the tools or talent to bring that vision to the screen, you're not going to be successful.

Ye speak blasphemy against Mr. Lucas!

As much as I like Lucas' work, adaptations aren't his strong suit. But I would like to see his Thor. I know it'd look awesome, anyway.

Yeah, since Jar-Jar, Watto, Alien Bartender, and Sebulba were just sooooo interesting.

And he got such a great performance out of Natalie Portman. She really nailed the whole "Oh my God, I'm so bored I'm about to pass out" aspect of Amidala really well. :) :D

The last time Lucas did a comic book movie, we got the source raping travesty that was Howard The Duck, so no thanks on Lucas getting anywhere near ANY comic book movie again.

I'd say either Fantastic four or namor. With Fantastic four, I guarentee we'd see the negative zone in his movies. And annilus and blastaar and silver Surfer and Galactus and all other space or dimensional villains. If he did Namor, Atlantis would look amazing... or just like that place that Jar Jar binks lived. The fish would be wicked extravagant and cool looking. I also bet that someone who looks like Darth Maul would be a villain.

I agree.

Cyclops, you rock.

I'm actually surprised. I thought he would get some more positive opinions after his success with the Star Wars films.
