If he wanted to direct a Marvel film, which would you prefer he do?

But Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, while nothing like Batman, obviously, was far from a bad movie.Chris Wallace said:I don't judge a director on his previous work. If I did, "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure" would've kept me away from "Batman" & "Flatliners" would've meant that "Batman & Robin" could never happen. Judge a director by his attitude toward the material, not what he's done w/something totally unrelated.

Okay-maybe I phrased it wrong. I can't think of any director who I'd call incompetent or untalented. But regardless of how talented a filmmaker may be, it's his approach to the project that matters in the end.CConn said:But Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, while nothing like Batman, obviously, was far from a bad movie.
I could give you a fantastic attitude towards any number of movies, it doesn't mean I'm qualified or know anything about directing to accomplish my vision

And Schumacher did have a bad attitude toward his Batman projects, as he purposely set out to get away from the dark, grim vision of Batman, & has gone on record saying he didn't understand why the lighthearted tone of the TV series had been abandoned.
That's just illogical. Every profession, and hell, every hobby has it's good and bad participants. Why would directing be any different?Chris Wallace said:Okay-maybe I phrased it wrong. I can't think of any director who I'd call incompetent or untalented.
Obviously, I would never defend Schumacher's vision for Batman, and yeah, having the proper vision for the character(s) your adapting is extremely important, but if you don't have the tools or talent to bring that vision to the screen, you're not going to be successful.Chris Wallace said:But regardless of how talented a filmmaker may be, it's his approach to the project that matters in the end.
