I didn't say there were no incompetent filmmakers; only that I couldn't think of any. And again, my point was that talent doesn't guarantee results in every arena. No matter how good a filmmaker you are, (And we're going on the basis of only using good filmmakers, not hacks who barely graduated film school) it's how you approach the project that determines your success.CConn said:That's just illogical. Every profession, and hell, every hobby has it's good and bad participants. Why would directing be any different?
Obviously, I would never defend Schumacher's vision for Batman, and yeah, having the proper vision for the character(s) your adapting is extremely important, but if you don't have the tools or talent to bring that vision to the screen, you're not going to be successful.
Which brings up another good point. Whatever you have to say about the prequels, tell it to Fox. They're laughing all the way to the bank. As long as they make their money, & get more positive feedback than negative, they're happy. And the Star Wars prequels accomplished that. So the Lucas-bashing doesn't really hold water.Still A ThorFan said:I'm not a Star Wars fan, but the last 3 did make a lot of money, and had nerds lining up years before opening day of each film.
Damn it! Damn you. I was gonna come here and think of some great title, like "Howard the Duck 2: Rise of Dr. Bong" to make a funny but you had to take my joke and ruin, taking away all the funny and creativity i would have put into it. Damnit i wish i would've seen this thread earlier.Philly Phanboy said:Howard the Duck 2?

And sidenote, notice how Sony isn't rushing out Spiderman 3? We have to wait like 19 more years for it and I am cool with that because they are taking their time to do it right. Unlike Fox who wants the films done in 2 weeks.
And stupid Marvel continues to work with them.

Cyclops said:Yeah, but in all fairness, if Lucas made a movie called "Star Wars Episode VII: Revenge of the Poopy, Doodoo, and Peepee Heads", the Star Wars fanatics would still blindly line up to make opening night in droves and continue to watch it.
