NO website can reperesent what the general audience though of ANY movie, which is unfortunate as i would like to know on many movies what they thought. But we never will know. Some say Box Office is a good indication of whether the GA liked a movie or not, but i personally TOTALLY disagree with that.

I finally saw it yesterday and suffice it to say, I'm damned glad I didn't have to pay for it. I really wanted to like it but aside from the occasional eye candy it was completely awful and amongst the worst of the genre.

Marvel, please don't let this man ruin any more of your characters/properties.

By: "That man" I hope you mean Nic Cage. He convinced MSJ to go for the kiddy approach and have "humour" MSJ wrote him exactly like the comic character. Nic Cage ruined it

Yeah, I loathed Cage in the role, but for me, this is also MSJ's 2nd strike at bat with a Marvel franchise (I know some people love the DD movie - I ain't one of them). And it was more than simply the failed attempts at humor that buried this movie, it was also the pitifully weak story, paper-thin characters, miserable dialogue and performances. And don't get me started on Eva Mendez...

You do realise, that those people that loved the DD movie were talking about the Directors Cut, which is 400% better than the normal cut. Lets hope the 15 min extended cut can redeem Ghost Rider, the same way it did for DD

I caught the DC version of Daredevil on TNT or FX some time last year. I felt it was an improvement over the theatrical release but not enough to completely redeem it.

DD was okay...it definitely has it's flaws but a lot of them are forgivable.

GR was just horrid...most of it's flaws aren't forgivable.

i hope MSJ doesn't have to get a 3rd strike in order to realize that he's out...

The DC of DareDevil is IMHO one of the better Marvel movies out there, too bad I can't say the same for Ghost Rider.

I saw Ghost Rider on April 25th but completely forgot to give marks here.Sony didn't distribute in theaters everywhere here so my local multiplex did not get a print of GR. Which meant i had to go to Amsterdam to see it.

It's definetly flawed with at times poor writing, acting(Blaze's revelation to Roxanne was awkward to say the least), too much cheesy humor and too much back story of Blaze and his dad was left out.But still i found myself enjoying most of it.Not the turdfest some people make it out to be IMO.

Eva Mendes is a decent actress but i didn't like how her part was written.Same goes for Wes Bentley who's a much better actor but he too didn't get to impress though he was scary at times.

Sam Elliott and Peter Fonda added a lot of quality to the movie but weren't in the movie enough for me. Fonda seemed to really enjoy playing the devil.:woot:

The visual effects and action sequences were really impressive with the police chase sequence, Caretaker/GR's ride and the Blaze-GR/GR-Blaze transformation as a few of the highlights.

The acting/story of the movie itself gets a 6, the action a 9. I guess thats a 6.5/7 overall? :ghost:

P.S: I honestly don't know where they could take the story in GR2. If it happens i hope they get a new writer but keep MSJ as director and his Oscar winning visual crew (Russel Boyd, Kevin Mack).

I rank it above Elektra, X3, Blade 3 and FF respectively, and on par with The Punisher. But its no were near the cream of the crop.
I agree. I actually haven't given FF much viewings since i bought the dvd. My sis is the one who alwasy wants to watch that same goes.

GR is something i could find my self watching more than a few times. You just need a bowl of popcorn with this one since it's not really as deep as it could/shoud be.

Good review Retro, but, concerning the highlighted part, i think that scene was supposed to be awkward.:yay:

Thanks and yeah i know it was supposed to be like that but it was just.... i don't know....another of those moments i wanted to be serious.Unlike the execution the idea of the hero revealing his secret upfront is refreshing and unlike how most superhero movies do it.:yay:

Well, I was hoping all the fans who saw it before me were just being pretentious, and that I would find some redeeming qualities about this film. Nope. Haha. Ghost Rider is just...bad, in a bad way. Worst Marvel movie since Hulk.

Yeah well after a lot of time has passed I gotta say it was just a poor film. I had such high hopes for it. The acting was awful, the plot was handled poorly, and action was disappointing. I usually pick up comic book movies when they are released but I think this is gonna be one of those rare cases where I am going to pass. Sorry MSJ but I just didn't like it.

I second that. I even bought Elektra. I'll wait for a restart-type sequel with Ghost Rider (i.e. the Incredible Hulk) before I add the title to my expanding comic book-based movies DVD collection.

It wasn’t the worst film in the world, but it wasn’t all that memorable. It’s worth renting but I don’t think I’ll add it to my DVD collection.

Woa woa woa woa nic cgae wanted to make it darker nic cage would not purposly make it kiddy he is a huge ghost rider fan so he would not want to diminish its value. plus it kept truer to the storyline than X-men fantastic four unless its the ultimate series which in my opion is a crock of crap keep it old school i mean come on. also it has an all star cast It was one of the best cb movies to come out right under spider man

This movie still sucks, but it is funny. Funny like as in "this milk tastes funny" ... not "haha" funny. Wes Bently's acting is about as bad as it gets.

So I finally saw this last night, the extended cut. And I must say the film was average. The story was generic, the performances were generic and the visual vocabulary the film possessed was pedestrian. Thankfully, Nic's performance was unique because it made the film a bit more original. Honestly a sequel should be made without MSJ, and he should write and direct movies for kids only. He had two chances with Marvel.

Any movie that has a dialogue exchange like the following :

Ghost Rider : You're going down.
Bad Guy : I don't think so
*cue some stupid CGI monster ghost thing for GR to wrestle with*

probably already sucks.

It was terrible, but not nearly as bad as I thought. Easily better than Fantastic Four, Catwoman, and Elektra, but that's like saying its better to be shot than stabbed.

Dialogue, overdone CGI-dependent direction, laughable acting, and about everything else was b-movie bad. The acting, dialogue and especially the sfx makes the movie so fake and lifeless. I felt like I was watching a bad video game.

MSJ needs to stop...right now.
