Ghost Rider: The Game(s)

Maybe we'll find out more info at E3. That's only a couple of weeks away.

Anyone out there going?

Thanks for the info MM. Great work, once again.

I have no idea the fate of the Ghost Rider game now that Majesco sold the rights. It's possible that we wont even get a Ghost Rider game now... which would really suck.

If they stuff in the game also the various outfit for each character like in X-men legends II this could be incredibly fun! Maybe GR will have GR1, GR2 outfit but if they stay faithful to the comic like in XMLII it could even have the red and the movie costume!!! I can't wait to swing enemies around with the chain and laughing histerically while i burn them with hellfire:D
Also, if they use the XMLII powers customization we could choose between GR1 and GR2 powers...sweet! Maybe....ohmygod, one power could be create the bike!!!(it could act like the flight ability of sunfire etcc) From the description in the little box it seems GR will be a long range catcher/trower with the chain, mixed with fire powers character... something between spiderman and sunfire?

My God I hope that is the way it is :up: :ghost: :ghost:

Ditto. Well, except for the red costume. Bleurgh.

;)

I wish this game came out this summer.

I had a dream about playing the Ghost Rider game a few nights ago. The graphics were amazing, it was a free roaming city, it was night, and I was riding the motorcycle as Ghost Rider. I was riding really fast, then I could drive on the sides of buildings and all that stuff.

Then I woke up.:(

agreed..we need to hear something about this game. no news on the rights or if its been dropped.
asked this question to MSJ in that other thread...hope he can give us some kind of update.

I want to have the ability to free roam around the city on the hell cycle, and do all kinds of destruction!

Hawkeye, I'm with you on the free roam, both on this earth and deep below...

I expect that we'll get some sort of update soon, if he ever decides to join us again that is. It's been 4 months since the last update and the do seem to come in 3-5 month spirts. I guess it all depends on how busy he is and how much he's allowed to share. Regardless, I expect an update or some word from him by the time the trailer hits or just before.

Whether or not he knows anything about the game is another thing...

Finally, some news about the game: http://home.businesswire.com/portal...d=news_view&newsId=20060501005180&newsLang=en

2K Games to Publish Ghost Rider Video Game Based on the Popular Marvel Comic Book Franchise and Upcoming Columbia Pictures Film

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 1, 2006--2K Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), announced today that it will publish Ghost Rider, a new third person action title featuring Marvel Comics' iconic motorcycle riding supernatural super hero, Ghost Rider. The game will be based on both the classic comic book series as well as Columbia Pictures/Marvel Studios' star-studded big screen adaptation of Ghost Rider that is expected to blaze into theaters February 2007. The big-screen action-adventurer features Oscar(R)-winner Nicolas Cage in the title role alongside Eva Mendes (Hitch) and Wes Bentley (American Beauty) as the villainous Blackheart. Ghost Rider is being developed for console and handheld systems by Climax Group and is scheduled for simultaneous release with the movie.

The Ghost Rider feature film follows superstar motorcycle stunt rider Johnny Blaze as he strikes a deal with the vile Mephistopheles for the most precious of commodities - his immortal soul. Now Johnny Blaze is forever destined to ride night after night as the host to the powerful supernatural entity known as the Ghost Rider. The video game continues the storyline, dropping players into the role of Blaze as he is transformed into a super hero with powers to avenge any evil he encounters. Featuring many of the characters and motorcycles from the comic book and movie, Ghost Rider will engage gamers in an immersive, supernatural third person world with a seamless blend of hand-to-hand combat and high-speed motorcycle action.

"Ghost Rider is one of Marvel Comics' most successful comic book franchises and we're thrilled to bring this beloved series to a broader audience," said Christoph Hartmann, Managing Director of 2K Games. "The video game will build upon the popular elements from the Ghost Rider franchise and intertwine its thrilling action and original, compelling content into a gaming experience fans will love."

"Marvel is excited about the upcoming Ghost Rider video game," said Ames Kirshen, Vice President, Interactive at Marvel Entertainment. "2K Games is creating an innovative game that showcases a combination of amazing hand-to-hand combat and motorcycle action intertwined with compelling third person play that offer gamers a truly unique and diverse gameplay experience."

and there is our update! heh
good to finally hear that its still on track...

I really hope there is an update involving what system it is going to be on. If they decide to just make it for the current gen systems instead of the next gen then I will be a little dissapointed. I will still get it, but I would expect them to switch it over to the 360 and PS3. If it is only on the current gen systems then I hope it is made backwards compatible for the 360

I would assume that it'll be available on all platforms, especially the next gen ones. Of course, what the hell do I know eh?

Ghost Rider Back on Track
2K Games will be publishing the hot-headed superhero's game next year.
by Daemon Hatfield
May 1, 2006 - Ghost Rider's long and winding road to your living room should finally be nearing its end, as 2K Games has announced they will publish the video game alongside the movie starring Nicolas Cage, slated for release in February 2007.
The game will be based on both the comic book series and the film, where motorcycle stunt rider Johnny Blaze sells his soul to the devil in exchange for the life of his father. Players will step into the role of Blaze as he is transformed into a hero with supernatural, evil-fighting powers and a flaming hairdo. Gameplay will consist of third-person action blending hand-to-hand combat and motorcycle racing.

Though Majesco was originally set to publish the game, the Ghost Rider license changed hands when it was sold last December to an (at the time) unnamed publisher. 2K Games has pulled the mask off of our mysterious guest, and comic fans should be playing Ghost Rider on their PlayStation 2, PSP and Game Boy Advance next February.

'Ghost Rider' to enrapture gamers; Clumbia plans movie with Nicolas Cage in lead

The fascinating supernatural character Ghost Rider will now ride out of comic book pages and into gaming consoles, handheld gadgets and even the big screen played by Nicolas Cage.

Games publisher 2K Games said it will work with games developer Climax Group to bring the motorcycle-riding superhero of Marvel Comics to consoles and systems. Players will be involved as Johnny Blaze who, in the story, is given powers to fight evil in various forms as he simultaneously plays host to the supernatural entity Ghost Rider whose nocturnal rides draw the reader (now player) into a fantasy world, with thrilling motorcycle stunts and physical combat and exciting surprises at every turn.

Comic book readers will remember the storyline: Johnny Blaze, a motorcycle stunt rider who gets transformed into a ghostly night-rider after a deal with Mephistopheles in which he loses his own soul and becomes host to the powerful Ghost Rider.

The marketing executives of the enterprise plan to launch the game simultaneously with the release of the film starring Nicolas Cage (as Blaze) with Wes Bentley (as Blackheart) and Eva Mendes (as Hitch). The movie will be produced by Columbia Pictures/Marvel Studios who said the film would be ready for a February 2007 worldwide release.

2K Games managing director Christoph Hartmann said the Marvel comic book superhero has provided great story and action content for “a gaming experience fans will love”. The publisher's partner and copyright owner of Ghost Rider - Marvel, is equally excited at the prospects because 2K and Climax are developing “a combination of amazing hand-to-hand combat and motorcycle action intertwined with compelling third person play” to make sure the game tops the popularity chart of gamers.

2K is the publishing arm of Take Two Interactive Software which produces games and accessories for a wide range of devices. Columbia Pictures is a subsidiary of Sony Corporation of America.

thanks totalpackage!
i cant wait to get my hands on that game...

Indeed, thanks TP!!!

I'm almost as excited about this game as I am the movie... almost.

Wow, PS2 PSP and Gameboy???? GAMEBOY!?!?!? Why are they releasing it on the older systems instead of the next gen systems. I don't have any of those systems. I would assume since they are putting in on PS2 that they would put it on xbox, but I guess only time will tell

Alright! Gameboy! That... will look like ****. And I'm a bit supporter of Gameboy... hell, it's the only system I own. But...

So... I don't have high hopes for the gameboy game. Other games should come out fine, however.

I'd still buy it if there was a Ghost Rider Gameboy game.
