great news on that. hopefully we will now be getting news on when filming is planned to start and get to casting.

After seeing Youth in Revolt, I really don't want Cera anywhere near this movie.

I think this is a bad idea worse than Indy 4.

Reitman, I mean he made some good stuff, but he's past his prime. Evolution was horrible.

I'm excited! I just hope if it does get made, that I will appreciate it. I dont understand why Bill dislikes the sequel so much. It sucked knowing a third would never come out, because he didn't want to be a part of it. I always hoped since I was young, and now finally may see it, even if the original guys are alot older.

Still I want to know why he dislikes GB2 so much. Yeah it was watered down in mature content, but it wasn't a problem. It had been done for kids, only fair. Or what the painting, Vigo? I never had a problem with him as a villain for the Ghostbusters. Everything was just a build up and suspense of what if he came to succeed. I back Vigo up. Have before. He was no Gozer, but Gozer is a God, and held him/her/it luckily back from causing destruction in GB1. Maybe it closely resembled GB1 in ways and he didn't like? So what it's good to have that feeling like wow just like the 1st I loved, didn't stray away, but made things different. Well Janine changed alot so that I dont know, but whatever. Them being sued and still people acted like there were no Ghost, and the Stay Puft Marshmellow Man seem forgotten. Ok I can see that, but really isn't that big of a problem for a movie like GB I think. It could be explained though I'm sure. I mean it was written that way. I see nothing bad that is should be very disliked.

Well we finally got a great GB game and felt like the third movie. I enjoyed it. I was satisfied, but if a new movie can come out as is being approached, I'm getting thirsty. I want another GB movie, even if new busters. I can learn to love a new team even if in 20s. Gives me an opportunity too! lol I got to know and love the original. I felt comfortable with the characters in Extreme Ghostbusters. Just as long as they are written interesting with a good story I'm fine.

While I understand that you're excited (as we all are! :woot:) I don't know where to begin with this paragraph.

You legitimately make every single case for Bill Murray! Seriously, you hit every single negative point about GB2... but then you just kind of toss them aside like we all should have just ignored them.

While I too enjoyed the movie, it wasn't even in the same league as the original. And you've got to try to understand that the cast and crew of such a movie (at least cast and crew that have respect for what they do/general credibility) look at all the negative points you bring up as complete failures on their part to produce a good movie.

One final note on Bill...

I've read before that he (like a handful of other actors) simply hate sequels because they hate playing the same character twice (since it's almost impossible to be as good the second time around - you've already used your A material).

I was stating negative points I've heard or read from others, and inferred it to a possibilty of why Bill didnt like it. I don't think they were bad. Each movie had its flaws to me with certain things, but I still think of them as grade A movies. My bad should of made note to that. I have heard that from actors though with what you stated. I don't think that's was the case imo. I believe I read something why he didn't like, not that it has to be taken as an actual truth however.

Does anyone else think the Movie will be Called GHOSTBUSTERS 3D

Sony does seem to have a hard on for 3-D.
Spider-Man Reboot and James Bond 23 already headed to 3-D.

I am looking forward to the movie & seeing the originals again but the success of the movie will really depend on who are the new Ghostbusters. They simply just can not fail with the casting

Who is the villain this time?

This is one thing that's never really been discussed... (mainly because it's nearly impossible to speculate on it until actual production starts).

I think theme wise they'll go back to the first film a bit, where we didn't really find out anything about Gozer until the very end of the film... We saw things begin to come together throughout the movie, but there wasn't a huge freaking painting that screamed THIS IS THE LEAD VILLAIN staring at us for two hours.

Part of what made Gozer epic was how the audience was completely unprepared for what they'd see in the final fight (just like the characters), and they delivered a huge surprise (a female, and then a giant marshmallow).

I think that kind of formula works best. Keeps audiences on their seats and also allows for more character development time (since you don't need a huge lead up to the baddie).

That's kind of what the video game did. Although it jumped around and had various bosses, the final villian was a pretty big mystery/ wtf moment when revealed, and I thought it was great. Plus it shed some light on Gozer and what he/she was/ was supposed to do and why she/he came back in the original film.

I still heart Viggo.

Cant wait to find out what is going to be the villain/theme/plot of 3rd movie. Also cant wait to casting get underway so we can see where the next gen busters are going to go for the film. As for film in 3D that would be pretty sweet.

No, no it won't. I love what Cameron did for Avatar but I'm getting sick of everyone wanting everything to be in 3D. It's not going to be the guaranteed goldmine everyone thinks it will be.

Seriously, who really thinks movies like Ghostbusters and Robocop need to be in 3D?
