Reitman confirms he is directing Ghostbusters 3.
While I understand that you're excited (as we all are!Still I want to know why he dislikes GB2 so much. Yeah it was watered down in mature content, but it wasn't a problem. It had been done for kids, only fair. Or what the painting, Vigo? I never had a problem with him as a villain for the Ghostbusters. Everything was just a build up and suspense of what if he came to succeed. I back Vigo up. Have before. He was no Gozer, but Gozer is a God, and held him/her/it luckily back from causing destruction in GB1. Maybe it closely resembled GB1 in ways and he didn't like? So what it's good to have that feeling like wow just like the 1st I loved, didn't stray away, but made things different. Well Janine changed alot so that I dont know, but whatever. Them being sued and still people acted like there were no Ghost, and the Stay Puft Marshmellow Man seem forgotten. Ok I can see that, but really isn't that big of a problem for a movie like GB I think. It could be explained though I'm sure. I mean it was written that way. I see nothing bad that is should be very disliked.

I don't know where to begin with this paragraph. This is going to rule...
Who is the villain this time?
That's kind of what the video game did. Although it jumped around and had various bosses, the final villian was a pretty big mystery/ wtf moment when revealed, and I thought it was great. Plus it shed some light on Gozer and what he/she was/ was supposed to do and why she/he came back in the original film. This is one thing that's never really been discussed... (mainly because it's nearly impossible to speculate on it until actual production starts).
I think theme wise they'll go back to the first film a bit, where we didn't really find out anything about Gozer until the very end of the film... We saw things begin to come together throughout the movie, but there wasn't a huge freaking painting that screamed THIS IS THE LEAD VILLAIN staring at us for two hours.
Part of what made Gozer epic was how the audience was completely unprepared for what they'd see in the final fight (just like the characters), and they delivered a huge surprise (a female, and then a giant marshmallow).
I think that kind of formula works best. Keeps audiences on their seats and also allows for more character development time (since you don't need a huge lead up to the baddie).
