It seems Apatow is co-producing. And the original Ghostbusters will be "mentors".

i'm fine with new ghostbusters, everyone gets old and has to stop doing what they do at some point and lets face it 1996/7 was pretty much the stopping point for the originals.

however i swear to god this whole apatow crap is the worst thing i've ever heard about a 3rd movie, the stiller/wilson stuff was better than this.

Paul Rudd, James Franco, and John C. Rielly would be cool in a GB movie because they can actually act and play different characters with range. I am sick of Seth Rogen, Steve Carrell, Will Ferrel, etc they do the same schtick everytime which is great for their own movies but being a Ghostbuster requires real emotion and real acting to carry it. The original GBs had such chemistry that it didn't feel forced at all.

I bet every comedic actor you can think of will want in on this.

Seth would find a reason to make his character smoke pot constantly.

Paul Rudd and Seth Roegen would make for some fun ghostbusters to watch. I could see Paul Rudd fitting into a Venkman type character mold. Seth Roegen probably will play in the same type of mold he usually plays which isn't a bad thing. Steve Carrell to me wouldn't make a good ghostbuster, I think he's more reminiscent of Rick Moranis' Luis Tully.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if that's the case. Times are a lot different now than they were 20 years ago. And I can deffinately see that type of humor creeping in to the movie.

pual rudd and james franco are like the only guys from those movies i can stand. the others just play the most annoing characters ever created...

We will just have to wait and see who will be directing this, producing this and what new crew cast members this will be. Nothing in know right now besides the office guys writing the film and that the 4 originals will be back in so form. So really like i and others have said a retiring from the business/hiring new guys to take over story is what we are likely to go. Like above poster and i said before it will probably start up with the old guys still busting but having alot of trouble catching ghosts now/or they get hurt. They then finally decide to retire for good now due to their old ages and then hire a new crew. Then the bulk of the film will be about the new crew busting ghosts untill we get to the end where the big ghost will be to much for them to handle and they ask for the originals to help them out and all that.

I said it before but it got buried, but I think Second City and UCB people are a lot closer in comedy style to the original guys than Seth Rogen etc. Sappy stoner comedies are fun and all but it's a lot different from the old-school SNL/SCTV style.

I agree with stoner comedies in general but I think the Apatow crew particularly Paul Rudd, Seth Rogen, and Bill Hader are alot like the SNL/SCTV style

I don't know if you know but Rielly happens to be a really great dramatic actor, SCorcese used him a couple of times in his latest films so I mean I think he'd do really well in a GB movie.

Well right now we dont know for sure if aptrow and his crew will actually be apart of the film. Only thing that is confirmed right now is that the office creators are writing the script and harold, dan, ivan are consulanting with them. As for new cast members, producers, director its all unknown for now.

Also just thought it would be good to post this is photos of 2008 looks for all original busters:

Yea he is the best looking out of all of them for their ages, for him he just has more wrinkles and some grey hair on him compared to the others have gotten fatter/lost weight but still fat, besides murray who just got really old looking.

but they still look good enough for a movie. and in hollywood movies they can even fight matriy style.
just joking.

No one stays young forever :)

I could really care less to see Jonahs fat rolls chasing after Slimer for an entire movie........:o
I'd doubt he be one. Just have a sdie role or something.

I could see either FRogen.Rudd, Carrell( he doesn'tthen add Jason Segel) and maybe either Romany Malco or Cliff Robinson.

It'd be nice to get a poll on here, just to see what people think of the possible Apatow Guys doing the movie, or if people want another group of comedians to jump at this project.

Yeah, that'd be a good add on to this.

I know alot of people would pefer others and think it would be a big sex joke movie.

but lets remember the GB movies were really never that and its not being written by any of them.

I think Owen Wilson could do well also.

Besides the Apatow actors, I'd like, Farrel, Kal Penn, Niel Patrick Harris and Ryan Reynolds.
