Ghostbusters 3

Who are Sony to do that to the man who directed the first and led it the success it was in the first place? What the ****, Sony?

sadly GB3 is now falling into the same group as gremlins 3 and masters of the universe

until i see on set shots i'm not getting my hopes up

I dreamed about this movie last night. I can't remember what the ghoul was that they took on, but I remember it was really unique and cool. And in the end everyone but Venkman died and became ghosts themselves. O_O

Crap, I feared something like this would happen. I'm not getting my hopes up yet, but Sony need to get their heads out of their a**es and just let Reitman do it. He was a driving force in the film as well, and I wouldn't have it without him. Reitman WILL make money with GB3, that's almost a fact. Anyone else, they may get some opening money, but the fans won't support it, and once the possible bad reviews come out, no one will come. Plus, I don't think the original cast would do it without Reitman either.

Its coming down to either Sony accepting Reitman to direct this or its a no-go.

As mentioned before Reitman, Ramis, Murray and Ackroid all will have the final say and will be the ones to ultimately greenlight the movie...

I can't imagine the other 3 doing it without him so if you put it all together, its essentially up to Sony, hire Reitman or no Ghostbusters 3.

...sadly if this isn't resolved soon, I can't see a GB3 happening.

We seem to be once again at square one, with the exception of the fact that two drafts of a script have been completed.

Exactly. I can only hope if the film doesn't go as planned then they either a) release the scripts to the public, to see what it would have been, or b) Sell the scripts to the makers of GB: The Video Game, get everyone back on board as well as some new actors, and still deliver the story, but in the sense of the video game. That way at least the Video Game was GBIII and the second video game could be GBIV .

well i do hope everything settles out and we get to see gb 3 i really want to see it. heck sony should like ivan direct it. Then if it is success and folks like the new younger busters, then give the option for more films about those characters to a newer director.

With only two choices to make... Sony isn't just going to standby and NOT make GB3. They'll eventually have to make a deal with Reitman.

I don't see how replaceing Reitman with a younger director is going to really do anything. Unless they want a mtv style for the movie or something. Which is not a style that would work well with Ghostbusters.

I have to give you credit bud, I think you're the most optimistic poster on these boards. I think the only time I've seen you say anything negative was after the announcement that Marvel was considering casting Tatum as Captain America, and that could make anyone's blood boil like hellfire. :hehe:

yea i am a pretty optimistic guy and hope for the best. But with GB it would be best to keep ivan on board and just get cracking on it. We fans want to see it, the old cast is there and willing. So just greenlight it already and all that.

I think they have good intentions, Sony that is. Ivan Reitman hasn't made a good film in years. I like the guy but that's the truth. John Landis made the BlueBrothers and then he made the atrocious Blues Brothers 2000.

yea hopefully everything can get settled between all parties and we do get the film. i would hate to see it fall apart now. Since we are much closer then any past attempts for another film.

If I see an official poster...then i'll believe this is really happening.

yea last i heard that was hopeful release date. which is possible as long as film starts shooting by spring 11.

Yeah I noticed that the first time I saw the commercial. Made me wonder why Sony would put that in there
