Anyone else get the feeling the Godzilla is probably here to save the Earth, but he isn't here to save humans.

I think he's just something the humans aim at the MUTOs and it backfires.

Ya know, this whole trailer was basically a Mutos announcement. Like "here they are folks!".

I'm thinking the MUTOS are some alien entity that will threaten all of Earth somehow.

Humanity either awakens it, or inadvertently makes it more powerful in their attempts to stop it, until they finally decide to just let Godzilla take care of it (instead of opposing him as well), despite him being an indiscriminate force of nature.

I dunno, the gist of the trailer is that the military's primary concern is actually the MUTOs. Something about them puts them on a higher priority/threat level than Godzilla himself. Besides, the lore of the atomic bomb testing is apparently that they were attempts to kill Godzilla that failed. So at this point the cover up may just so that humanity treads as softly as possible around the big G because they already know he's unstoppable.

But now they need a 'god' to intervene because they have no other option.

Amazing new trailer! Last shot of the MUTO flying toward Godzilla was so cool.

One gripe with the trailer, didn't the SF gate bridge seem odd in the trailer? It looked like a quick rewind or something.

I've never really watched Godzilla films before (except that god awful one in 1998) but this new trailer looks soooooooo awesome.

Ah there we go. Almost forgot about that. I guess it's more or less settled then. the MUTOs are the priority threat that humanity is wanting to aim Godzilla at.

I can't wait to see how they balance the terror of his power with the awe of him winning. Cause at the end of the day, we're going to be rooting for him, even if he's tossing a baddie through a populated building.
