It seems like Toho didn't give Legendary any rights to other kaiju. Hopefully we will see some classic Toho monsters in a sequel, and it'll be a Destroy All Monsters type movie like Gareth said.

But that MUTO is definitely Rodan-inspired.

The rights to Godzilla alone cost a ton, and each Toho monster is its own trademark. It's a better idea to cap the costs and buy later than buy now and hope this movie turns a huge profit to compensate.

That Asian Trailer was... oh my daysssss. This film just looks better and better. One of the best marketing campaigns ever?

And i wonder what the origin of this Godzilla is? The tag line is "A force of nature has awakened". But could that be in a literally way? Like Godzilla is some ancient protector of Earth. Kinda Lovecraftian God in a way. Hmmm

The way Gareth talked about him, it's exactly that. Reluctantly, Godzilla awakens to restore the balance. Badass

If this film is a huge success they legendary would be stupid not to kiss tohos ass repeatedly to get the rights to some of the other classic monsters. Bring in rodan or anguirus and then the third an all out brawl with everyone. Just have an intro to the third or and ending to the second saying more and more monsters are appearing

I feel awful saying this, but the "let them fight" line reminded me of Debbie Gibson's line "We'll let them kill each other!" in Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus.
