Well, that's where we differ. I've already got a library of great Godzilla movies. I don't see the need for a franchise here. Nor was there a need for one with the new Elm Street movie, for that matter.

If the past films are enough then why have this film at all?

More than just questions of franchising I want this film to be good and to do well also because it'd be really nice to see Thomas Tull and Legendary win out for once. Tull commits his studio to a lot of projects other studios would shy away from because they are the types of films he wants to see. It just so happens that Tull's tastes often coincide with my own.

Also, for better or for worse it really seems like Edwards put his heart and soul into this. He has a lot laying on the line.

(This might end up being my favorite movie of the Summer? We shall see! I hope so!)
