That's what made Gareth Edwards a Godzilla fan and some of the official apparel of the movie have a Hanna-Barbera feel to them(in a good way).
Believe me, I have no problems with that as I too loved the show. As a Godzilla (LegendaryGoji) Mask, it's kinda strange.(Again I didn't expect quality masks form Rubie's) But as a HB Godzilla Mask this would have been a great take. I guess I'll still end up buying it for cosplaying purposes.

And speaking of Gareth's Godzilla upbringing and its aspects. Who here didn't admit to anyone (Or most people) about their passion for Godzilla when they were younger during school?
I'll openly admit, I'm a die hard Godzilla fan and was very passionate for the Big-G, but I did mostly keep it to myself when I was very young since (Before Roland's abomination was even created) Godzilla didn't seem like the kind of awesomeness you could be open about, especially in school. But even when you learn to hide something, it always finds a way to surface. I loved drawing, and my drawings would consist of Godzilla and the other monsters he fought like Rodan, Mothra, Ghidorah, etc. That, including my Godzilla Trendmasters MGA Game kinda give an obvious giveaway lol
Thinking about it now, I don't think I had gotten any negative feedback from my classmates, not even a single flame. Still, I kept it to myself most of the time despite that when I was young. After all, it always placed me as the odd man whenever I say that my greatest hero was an atomic monster from Japan than the common heroes like Batman, Superman, Wolverine, Spider-Man, etc that my classmates looked up to.(Nothing wrong with that of course!)
Although upon middle and high school, I grew more open about my passion for Godzilla. A few strange looks and "You like Godzilla?", but generally to my surprise people were mostly accepting of my passion, especially my friends.
But this was after educating them on the Toho Godzilla as the real Godzilla, and not the GINO abomination lol (REPRESENT! xD)
