Godzilla Reboot????

:o

This just seems so fake to me. This and ID4ever especially. If I see this supposed Godzilla teaser before Terminator Salvation, I'll be dipped in s*** and rolled in breadcrumbs.

is there anywhere where the video is still up?

^ What he said.

Also i dont care if they make a reboot or a sequel as long as they make godzilla CGI (no more crappy rubber suit) like this.

Oh great. Let's rip the heart out and what actually makes Godzilla fun. Maybe they can have a sequel where the raptor (yeah, I said it) born at the end of GINO ends up playing for the Knicks. :whatever:

I hear ya, although personally, I wouldn't mind some mix of rubber suits with motion-capture CGI (using the same performers).

I doubt that a Godzilla reboot's gonna happen anytime soon, at least in this country, anyway. Certainly Toho wouldn't have any confidence in it, and justifiably so, IMO. Because campy or not, any filmmaker who steps up the plate needs to be a helluva lot more acknowledging of the legacy of the past Godzilla films than Emmerlich and Devlin were.

More like an oversized wart on its junk.
Obviousely the american reboot sucked because it changed the look of godzilla and because the story and acting sucked but it definately wasnt because it used cgi instead of the rubber suit.

Some may say the godzilla movies have to have the suit but there just being obnoxious, the only reason why most of the godzilla movies had the suit is because either thats all that was available at the time or because they couldnt afford better. But as you can see by the more recent movies that they are slowing moving away from those things and finally evolving the way they make there movies.

I understand why the older movie audience is afraid of change when all there lives they were used to animatronics, models, and suits but everything evolves and cgi is the future of cinema effects. Right now its usually not great and obviousely fake but you know what so was their effects at one time and eventually they became more real looking but still obviousely fake and someday cgi will look almost real and that'll be great.

Anyway my rant is over the video i posted isnt even from a godzilla movie and its ten times better than some of the stuff in the older godzilla movies and does more for godzilla than any guy in a suit could.

What I would like is to have an original Godzilla film with well developed CGI and a story and script that can somehow rival the 1954 Japanese classic.

Though I know it'll never happen, so its best to leave Godzilla alone.

Yeah that would be awesome, we can dream right.:yay:

It can happen. Just depends on who's involved I suppose.
In my eyes all you have to do is make decisions(*gasp*) Either ground it in reality or make it crazy unreal with mechagodzilla & Rodan and w/e and have fun with it.Once you try to find the middle ground, thats when you end up with Emmerichzilla.

In all the originals they treated Godzilla like a force of nature. He was a Tsunami, A Hurricane. Every few years you knew he'd come along and mess your whole **** up.

What's that sonny? I couldn't quite hear you properly at the ripe old age of 22. That's what's fun about it! They aren't trying to change the world. It's a guy dressed as a giant lizard destroying a cardboard building. AWESOME!

Hell Yeah!!! It was so awesome!... when i was 8. Im 20 now and would prefer good story telling and believeable special effects that doesnt only thrill a child. I cherish my memories of watching the old godzilla monster movie marthons when i was a kid but now when i look at the movies the effects are too distracting and rarely funny enough to make me content.
Im just saying that if the cgi is done well enough with the origional design of the rubber suit, godzilla could really be the king of monsters not just a fumbling fool.

I thought the Godzilla movies were supposed to be fun because it was a huge lizard fighting other monsters and destroying buildings. Never once was I like "Oh dude, Godzilla is amazing because it looks so damn cheap." I'm just sayin'.

Bleh. I'd rather just have a really fun movie than go thinking we have to try to measure up to the original film, especially since the original film was a nuke metaphor that had been made in a country that had actually been nuked only a decade prior. I don't mind Godzilla being turned back into a self-righteous bad@$$ who'd sooner smash Tokyo into burning ruin than save it from King Ghidorah for the umpteenth time, though...more the nigh-unstoppable force of destruction that Man is ignorant enough to believe it can destroy as easily as it created, thus making their inevitable fiery reckoning fun to watch.

Then Godzilla isn't for you, pricky.

Same here. I didn't love Godzilla because "it's so bad its good." I loved Godzilla because when I was 7 years old and hopped up on cookies, I thought he was badass. Some people just don't seem to get that.

BTW, a few years back I had an idea for a Godzilla "seboot." It would be about 3 juvenile second-generation Godzillas. I'd basically use the fact that they're G2 Godzillas as an excuse to make changes to them. Examples include them no longer being aesexual (there would be an alpha male, a beta male, and a female), looking a bit more like the classic Godzilla (but with many elements of the '98 one), regular use of flame breath, and much more agressive personalities (largely due to the creatures being in puberty).

The plot would involve this weird cult that is trying to resurrect their dragon god, King Gidorah. Using stolen genetic samples from the G1 Godzilla, they are able to complete and enhance a genetic sample of the original King Gidorah, Jurassic Park style. When the resulting clone comes to maturity, its' a Godzilla-sized, 3 headed flying dragon, which the Gidorah Cult unleashes on the world to take revenge. The military ultimately decides that the best option is to lure Gidorah and the 3 G2 Godzillas into the same area, so the Godzillas will wipe out Gidorah, and Gidorah will weaken the Godzillas and / or weaken them.

Ultimately, the only Godzilla that makes it through the movie alive would be the beta male. The Alpha male would be killed by Gidorah, and the female would be killed by the military. By nature the beta male is slightly more docile than the alpha, but he's still pissy because the only female of his species is dead. He escapes into the wild, leaving the door open for a sequel.

Judging by everybody else's comments id say your in the minority.
Godzilla isnt good because of the crappy effects or the lame cheese, its good because its suppose to be a giant monster attacking towns or fighting other monsters. When we were kids it was great because we were too stupid to notice how bad the effects were but now we arent. We have grown up and the movies should too.
They've started too but there just not there yet.
