Gotham Knights

Every leak etc put batman Front and Center.
Even they did with the batman Logo at the anniversary and the #CaptureTheKnight.
There was nothing indicating a game were batman does not play a Main role.

Its more than likely that it will Feature a playable batman, but i dont know...playing batman only after 5-6 hour halfway through the Story, since i assume such a big reveal when the Story plays with the idea He is dead will take a while to get to that plot Twist...doesnt Sound too cool at the Moment.

Well I must’ve missed that then because everything I always saw was about the Batfamily. But hey doesn’t matter to me cause I’m down with the direction they’re going. So I’m excited as hell and I’m set

Not impressed with this in the slightest. Love the idea of playing as the Bat family, and I appreciate the risk of "killing" Batman (Let's be real: it has something to do with the Court of Owls) but the game itself looks so mediocre. Standard graphics and combat, very rough animations, bad voice acting, and this pseudo-RPG/co-op thing that's become so popular recently just combines into one big ol' skip for me. Hopefully they impress me later on but that gameplay was ROUGH.

To be fair, nothing was really out there that told us really 100% sure what it would be.
Nothing was 100% confirming batman being in it or not...mainly just that they work on a game with the batman license and it would involve the family...too.

After a few short hours i must say that i am a bit less dissapointed about this and i turn more into the "excited" direction.
A lot has to do with the fact that i start to think more and more that Batman will be playable down the line and stuff.

But there is still part of me that doesnt like that the focus goes away from batman.
Simply because they had it, WB had the perfect game formula to make us "be the batman".
And i just dont want to believe that they would want to let this go.
I mean yeah it doesnt have to be Batman Arkham...but you have all the basics to keep making games that make us "be the batman"...i have a hard time dealing with the possibility that they would not want to pick up on that.

And another thing that "bothers" me about this...is that gotham knights is what i wanted.
When the rumors started and all, i wanted the batfamily.
I wanted to have this part in the game where Batman goes missing in the maze and the family must protect gotham until he comes back.

We could have it all you know.
A game with day and night cycle that spends the first act of the game with us playing as batman, doing what he does while we get side missions etc that serve as tutorial for how the batfamily controls and so on.
As the story progresses, batman finds out more about the court, tries to find them and ends up in the maze.
Then have the second act let us control the family while the court unleashes dozens of villians to the city to weaken it and the family.
Giving us hours of time with just them over the span of a few ingame days.
Then comes Act three with batman returning, having to round up the villians...fighting in the manor against the talons.
And act four is the final where the court unleashes the talons onto the city and we have to play as all of the them, batman and the family to stop them once and for all.

WB Montreal has confirmed that this game is totally separate from the ARKHAM universe. Good to get a definitive answer on that.

Is anyone else placing the Batman voice? Doesn't sound like Roger Craig Smith at all.

I am totally down and fine with this. A fresh start same style and characters of the Arkhamverse but brand new going forward. Especially for the new gen consoles. I love the idea. We have had the Arkham verse and now going forward this combined with SS vs JL which is apparently in the same universe as Knights.

This is a super long response and honestly I’m not reading the entire post. But yeah like I said at least for me I’m good so no worries on my end

Oh sorry, the second part of my post was more meant in general and not specific to you.
I should work on getting that point across before doing long posts. XD

Real talk.

I dont have a issue with batman not being front and center and still think he could show up at some point my issue is more from what we where shown it looks like free flow combat may be complety gone and its such a perfect combat system that if its gone then it takes a lot away from the games and because of the combat system the challenge maps are so fun and add so much replay value. So is free flow and challenge maps gone then?

I am fairly confident that Bruce isn't showing up until the end. I'm fairly certain of a twist that is going to play out in the story, and I highly doubt that you can play Bruce in a first run of the game. New Game +, however...

We do need to see more of the combat, to see how different it is. I am curious to see how well the scaling works with the RPG elements. It does sound like there will be some different ways to play as each character, so that should be fun. It looks neat.

Yes! I hope it’s in third person view for Nightwing so the camera is behind in. No reason in particular.
Can’t wait to play

No Batman and gear based leveling with enemy health bars and numbers on attacks are the big red flags for me. It has potential to be really bad.

Like replaying missions that are boring to have a 2.5% chance to obtain a piece of gear that increases attack damage by .5% bad.

Combat and graphics look just fine to me. Switching between Bat family members is ok too, I like how big Gotham is looking.

But there are two HUGE hurdles to cross first.

So much negativity for these upcoming comic book games that annoy me as I disagree with most issues but that's okay. I'm not going to judge people and tell anyone to just be all happy like I've done before!

I've realized that some games just aren't for everyone. We all have our preferences! Luckily for me that I've been intrigued by each game even if we don't completley know everything yet. So I'll just say that give them a fair chance eventually with the full games post releases and then fairly judge after you play them yourselves!

If the scaling is done properly, I don't see much need to grind for loot.

Part of the issue, is that this game is ostensibly the next game in a very highly regarded series. Break too hard with that, and there will be some backlash.

We can only hope. I don't mind challenges to obtain gear. But I seriously don't want to be bogged down trying to get gear to beat mooks. Or have chapters of the story walled off because my Nightwing isn't level 50 with a 780 gear score.

I think Bruce's ''death'' has been orchestrated by The Court of Owls as part of a plan to reclaim Gotham.

They may have brainwashed him and turn him into a talon unbeknownst to the Bat-Family. That would make for a good late game twist.

So I'm just getting caught up with the news.

And........this is not quite what I expected. Don't know how to feel about it.......tbh.

With Batman "dead", it feels like it needs at least one more character. Like, Cassandra Cain as Black Bat/Orphan, Huntress, or Azrael. Only 4 playable characters seems like it is missing something when the "big draw" to these games (playing as Batman) is gone.

I wouldn't mind if Bruce were actually dead in this game.

I also don't want to see them screw up the Barbara/Dick Grayson relationship again.

My bet is Batman/Bruce shows up halfway through the story when it starts to get deep into the Court of Owls and then becomes playable in the story or at least free roam first!

im disappointed most games are going for this games as a service module. even the SS game is doing that s well.

The game looks okay. i always wanted to play as the batfamily so im hyped im getting that. but the graphics made it look like toys maybe it was animation. the teleporting robin just rubbed off th wrong way. the robin suit looked bad imo but at least we know there will be alternative suits to wear.

still need to see more. but i will most likely get it. I always feel like i have to support every comic book property.

I'm already disappointed with the lack of Batman, and even more so if he is truly dead and gone.

I'm also disappointed that Batgirl is once again Barbara. I get that she's the most well-known Batgirl, but since this IS a different universe from the Arkham games and basically a fresh start, it could have been the chance to give the spotlight to another character as Batgirl, like Cassandra.

Only 4 playable characters also disappoints me. Hopefully they will/can add more, but that will probably be through DLC.

But what disappoints me more is the seemingly changed combat system away from the free-flow combat of the Arkham games.

Of the two games, this one caught my interest more. My love of the bat family outweighs my non interest in the suicide squarely. Not sure how I feel about levels and rpg experience points though. I didn’t see enemies dropping piles of worthless, multicolored loot though, so that’s a positive. The graphics look fine to me.

Was that the same voice actress as Ashoka Tano doing Batgirl?
