yeah nice easter egg there. might be a few in Ra's lair too.

Overall this might be my favorite episode. The car, the cake with Selena. Oswald being the reluctant hero. Good job of writing and directing. If they could keep up that kind of consistent quality this show might live on a few more seasons. Hopefully they get at least one more.

Yeah Joker isn't Joker because he breathed in his own gas.
Ridiculous but the character has been so overused that they're scrapping at the bottom of the barrel now both in terms of the way he's acted ( Leto) or the storylines he's given (Gotham).

One of his best and most unique and defining characteristics is that he has no real origin. This has been done away with here and it looks to be the same for his movie.

Oh well there's Batman ninja and Telltale did a great job too.

Oh, this again. The Joker having no origin, while a very common staple of the character, doesn't mean there hasn't been any interpretation of the Joker where had no origin. Batman '89, The Killing Joke, just to name the most notable.

Gotham has done a lot of things differently, and this Joker origin is part of it, it's their own take on it.

So The Joker wreaked havoc on Gotham for awhile, and then chose another dude (his brother) to turn into The Joker and take his place.

Maybe next year The Joker will turn his cousin Jeddidiah into The Joker, and then his uncle Jeffrey the following year.

And then in a flashforward 20 years from now a Justin Joker will turn a certain Jason in to the next Joker lol

Burton films are a product of their time while TKJ introduced the multiple choice origin to the character.

Even if I were to relax this criteria from my end it still doesn't change the fact that "Joker" became Joker after he was exposed to his own trademark weapon which is preposterous. Fans came up with superior theories, just have them both fall in to a vat of chemicals in a burning factory with only one emerging, easy.

Ofcourse I'm annoyed but Gotham unfortunately isn't the only place where this is happening. As I mentioned earlier Joker depictions are going down the toilet these daya because DC/WB insists on shoving him everywhere. Even in comics Scott Snyder turned him from Leatherface to Ra's al Joker Savage to a virus and Johns is fiddling with the 3 Joker theory he introduced in his JL. So it wasn't just a criticism directed towards Gotham but WB as a whole.

How dare anyone come up with a new and unique origin that you didn't approve of. Okay you said it now let it rest and quit spamming the thread with your negativity. Otherwise someone might think you were trolling.

I thought it was a nice parallel to Nolan's Batman idea of being an ideal more than a person. Seeing as how they've always said they were two sides of a coin.

Ironically, Gotham's commissioner died in this episode.

New and unique? You jest right ?or are you forgetting that this is exactly how Crane became Scarecrow on this show?

Please, its not new, its not unique. Twin brother non sense never was. This is just a ratings driven stunt and one which they can very well abuse. Why stop at here? They'll keep baiting the fans about the real Joker showing up whenever they want a boost. They can even bring back Jerome and claim he was the real deal, they've brought him back before.

Enjoy it but dont threaten dissenting opinion with accusation of trolling.

We all breathe in our own gas once in awhile.

This show is so deliriously ****ing stupid that I could almost see them doing this. Jerome’s comment about being an idea... a symbol... (ripping off BatBale) could mean that even Jeremiah isn’t actually the really real Joker.

I kinda hate this show because the premise is just so redundant, but good lord, you have to admire them for just saying a big **** you to Bat canon so heavily, and making **** up.

Heaven forbid different interpretations exist. This is why I can't take most of the Batman fanbase seriously. :funny:

I love Gotham BECAUSE it just makes **** up :funny:
I never know what’s gonna happen.
That’s far more interesting for a weekly series than something super faithful to canon where I have a pretty good idea how everything will play out.

I just appreciate it for what it is.
