Grant Morrison: I still don't get it

That proves nothing, because then 1 would assume Morrison was aware of this or the intention he set for Leo. It's kinda like how he openly admitted he didn't realize the themes of Batman and Robin arcs, or the Batman and Robin #3 arc. These things just happen at times.

Lex won't be Leo in the upcoming movie either and once again Morrison in the interview doesn't directly state that Leo was Lex, yet he was more than open to state Hurt was the devil.

He basically says he likes to write stories and insert things to leave interpretation open, aka, he loves to write ambiguous things in his story that can seen different ways. It doesn't prove anything for sure, or otherwise, disprove anything. However, it does show that he does like to insert things that allow for things to be examine.

And you keep bringing up that interview as some kind of validation of your point, but it's not. There's nothing he said to disprove it, and the part you ignore every time, is an inserting spin to this idea more than anything. I mean, really, if you believe this interpretation is totally closed it's time to nut up or shut up, so to speak, and go to the text. Take all these points and show how they either do not work or don't represent the text at all. I mean you want to see it that way it's fine, but to totally close off this possibility with all the things (from the superficial to the thematic to the parallel) there, then lets see some text examination to put your manhole lid down on it.

It occurs to me that Morrison himself would probably be sad to see Drz refuting the Leo = Lex interpretation so doggedly... :csad:

We'll lets see will Morrison be sad when he sees the movie of his book. =)

Yeah, sure, because an animated children's movie will definitely be the definitive interpretation...

Also, you need to check your definition of a circular argument. Believing a hypothesis is true and then looking for evidence to support it isn't circular reasoning. It's pretty much how all science works. A circular argument means that the evidence for a conclusion is simply a restatement of the conclusion itself. Now, you may be onto some sort of interpretive fallacy, where the interpreter is automatically conditioned to interpret a piece of evidence a certain way because he WANTS it to be true. But this isn't circular. It also doesn't discount the evidence necessarily. That's why corroborating evidence is so important. And there is a bunch of corroborating evidence.

I don't think Morrison ever wanted it to be definitively provable that Lex = Leo, but apparently you won't stand for anything less than explicit proof. I DO think that Morrison definitely likes to mess with readers, and I think that the Lex/Leo connection is certainly hinted at in order to mess with us, but that's probably as far as it goes.

Issue 12 "Turn us around. I'm televoicing Dr. Lex-Or."

Coming into this a bit late, but even though Morrison has certain misconceptions about Superman-like him being inferior to Batman and buying into the Lil' Abner "farmboy" canard that Byrne established that has no relevance to anything Jerry Siegel ever intended-he mostly gets Superman and his Superman, especially in All-Star is a winner. In many ways the ultimate victory for Superman would be for Lex to reform and realize his great potential for good. So while I'm not sure if Leo = Lex, it would make Superman happy if it were so.

Hm. Is Gerard Way supposed to be a combination of Captain America, Sailor Moon, and Strawberry Shortcake? Also, what's a Gerard Way?

Yes and lead singer of My Chemical Romance and the writer of Umbrella Academy.

I dug their first three albums

I've never been their biggest fan but I've enjoyed what I heard of Killjoys. Although I love everything Morrison is associated with so that may be the reason. :oldrazz:

Haha I was imagining Morrison doing that to me

It left me feeling unsettled

But excited :awesome:

How was he involved? Did he actually do some lyric writing, or was he just hanging out during the production? I bought the album on sale for Black Friday, and it's pretty decent.

Nothing like that that. He just screams at Way.

I thought it was pretty neat

Hahaha is that actually Grant Morrison in that picture :wow:

That is fabulous how does Gerard Way know him

Way worked at DC before MCR and he's a huge fan of Morrison. They've been friends ever since the Umbrella Academy even did a panel at Comic Con about two years ago.

If you imagine Grant Morrison you meet Grant Morrison. If you meet Grant Morrison you know Grant Morrison. If you know Grant Morrison you buy lunch for Grant Morrison. If you buy lunch for Grant Morrison you love Grant Morrison. If you love Grant Morrison you are Grant Morrison. If you are Grant Morrison Gerard Way imagines you.
