Grayskull: Masters of the Universe - Part 2

I think Skeletor may have some additional cannon fodder undead creature army on his side as well, because frankly it just gives the heroes someone to beat the **** out of in a faceless mass way that looks cool.
There's plenty of ways to conjure up cannon fodder. Beast Man's always got some Eternian monsters in the stables. Mer-Man's got access to hostile sea life. Tri-Klops built that bone monster on the 200x show. Stuff like that.

Actors for Mer-Man?
I'll give it to Doug Jones. He's the man.

Yeah, Pencil-head is an easy choice for this kind of role.

Another suggestion: Andrew Tiernan.

Like Doug Jones more than Phelps for the role :P

What about Ram Man?

I haven't seen Man With the Iron Fists yet, but if Dave Batista's any good in that, he'd made a good Ram Man.

Also Kevin Durand.

The above is assuming he's more like the 2002 version, instead of the Tigger version from the 1980s cartoon.

Batista's got like no personality. Watch some of his recent interviews where he's trying to promote an MMA fight. Dude's like listening to a brick wall.

Why not Andy Serkis, with some quirky take on the character (NOT Gollum-esque, though... so don't start suggesting that)?
As long as Ram Man is still bad ass out in the battlefield, I think it could work

Ram Man's basically a big meat head. Batista's basically a big meat head. Don't see the problem.

Kevin Durand would be perfect for Ram Man, or Andrew Bynaski ( I know I misspelled his last name, but he was the big dude who played Zangief in Street Fighter and Lobo in that Fan movie )

Kevin Durand is carving out quite a niche career of playing roles like this so it'd be right up his wheelhouse.

Now granted you could even take out Ram-Man from a first movie as well. But I'd like a fourth master for some more fun.

Personally, I'd rather see Durand as Trap-Jaw

Yes but does Trapjaw even make it into the movie? Not sure you need him other than for the visual.

I contend that Chiklis is too much of a leading boss-man presence to play a lovable lug like Ram Man.

I vote Paul "Big Show" Wight.

Not a bad choice.

Dollars to donuts though, someone's gonna start moaning "Not a wrestler! I wanna cast an ACTOR in the role!"

Perhaps Ram Man needs to be more "forward" as a character and not just a silly background warrior? Anyway, Chiklis is the best suggestion I've ever heard for the role. He's like born to play the character.

Honestly, for Ram Man, I just assumed the actor would wear prosthetics similar to Ray Stevenson in Thor, Vinnie Jones in X3, Kevin Durand in Wolverine, etc.

It's not like in Hollywood today you'd need to cast some big hulking dude

Maybe, but (again assuming it is like 200X Ram Man) you need a guy who looks naturally big, and has a "big man" attitude and body language.

Yes, they can do exactly like they did in the 1987 movie. The absence of known characters was what made the film strong (or, maybe not).

Chiklis is not that tall of a guy, so perhaps he will be a combination of both versions? The 200x Ram Man didn't use his "typical power" that much. It was almost like they wanted to take away the classic Ram Man and have him become somewhat different. But that's not what I would want to see in live action. He should not run and break walls, he should jump.
About the height: why not go the Gimli route - cast a big actor, then make Ram a few inches shorter than everybody else, without turning him into a dwarf (not THAT short).

Now, what about Stratos (to change subject)? Like Mer-Man, he's a king and should have a very special rank among the warriors.
He could bring much to the table, because he's one of the few characters with the ability to fly. If that doesn't make him worthy of being in a film, I'm not sure what does.

For me, Stratos is almost a must for the first film, not because he's an original 8 character (Zodac I can do without), but his status helps establish that Eternia is made up of a diverse number of kingdoms, many of whom are allied in order to combat evil.

Stratos' presence alone is an easy way of giving that part of the background without having to go into a long Game Of Thrones-style dialogue.

WTF? that isn't RamMan. From the mini-comics to the cartoon, he is a HUMAN BATTERING RAM.

Let's say he can fight in whatever way the writers want, he still got to use his spring legs and head to tear down a wall by jumping, at least ONCE during the film. That's what Ram Man is known for, and we can't be without it.

That's the reason I want Ram Man there too. The good side can't just rely on Duncan, Teela and the royal guards to back up He-Man. That would be way too poor. Imagine how "cheated on a good show" the audience would feel then. Ouch!
There are Masters around the planet who aren't tied to the royal palace. And Ram Man is perhaps the most recognizable one to general audience.

Back to Stratos. Could an aussie actor play him? The ones I know about are too famous for a supporting character, I guess. The same goes for the ones from New Zealand. Karl Urban is making a name for himself these days.
Unless there will be more focus than usual on the people of Avion, we can't expect a movie star in the role.
