Grayskull: Masters of the Universe - Part 2

Agree that the concept art is really great looking

Now here's more casting suggestions. I now you won't approve, but give it a chance.

Marlena: Jennifer Aniston (not because of her acting but she's got the right look, you cannot deny it)

Mekaneck: Eric Bana, Guy Pearce, David Wenham (it should be somebody who could make the poor character more interesting)

Ram Man: Michael Chiklis is my first choice, but Andy Serkis could be ok too.

Man-At-Arms: How about Karl Urban? Or Clive Owen?

Randor: I can see Urban as possible here too.

Orko: I have always wanted Jonathan Taylor Thomas to do the voice work for the character. But here's something new. Isaac Hempstead Wright could do that and also play the character with mo-cap.
People here always complain about how girly and ugly he is. Now you get a chance to have him star in a blockbuster without seeing his face. The live action Orko could instead be based on Isaac's looks and movements (without changing the character too much).

The hordak and skeletor have nothing to do with the film, the only concept art that's official is the battlecat

The hordak and skeletor are fan art done by a big name on dev art who made his name in witch blade comics

That He-Man concept art was made to resemble Hemsworth i suspect. In all honesty I doubt he wouldn't jump at the chance to do it, but schedule wise and what not, who knows.

I too think that He-Man might be too similar to Thor. And as the Marvel contract nears its end (even though there are 3 more films remaining) he's looking to branch into other things - he's got two supporting roles in comedies, has done two lead roles in dramas and has another one coming up. He also has another big-budget action franchise on his name.

Even just the physical side of things. He-Man would require a great physique and he might want some break from the gym after 6 years of constant working out. If you think about it that way, now would probably be the right time since he's already in shape.

But I think both the scheduling and motivation might be a challenge.

I would be up for an upcoming actor to get this role and become a superstar than an already established A lister.

That's why Alexander Skarsgård and Rhys Wakefield are good suggestions

Those statues Hunter posted are badass.

Visually MotU could be spectacular. I don't know how they'll get past the stupid character names though.

And then Silverhawks and Thundercats.

I guess M.A.S.K. fans are like 8th in line :(:D

Skarsgard might also seem like a same-ish choice, given that he is Tarzan now.

Who's this other guy? Never heard of him.

For me, M.A.S.K. is a no-brainer. Walk into a producers office and tell them you have a pre-existing property that combines Transformers, Fast & Furious and Mission Impossible, and try not to drown in the cash they dump on you.

They're both athletic, good looking guys. But they're more Olympic swimmer fit than He-Man fit.

He-Man needs to be big. Like young Arnold Schwarzenegger kind of big. Young Lou Ferigno kind of big.

I know no one wants to cast a pro wrestler or pro body builder as He-Man. But to be honest, physically speaking, those are the only guys who truly fit the bill. Just try and find one who's not totally horrible at acting. I know that seems like an impossible task, but that's how I see it.

Joe Meeko as He-Man

I think Rob Kazinsky (Pacific Rim) and Todd Lasance (Spartacus) could be looked at if they want up-and-comers.
But Skarsgård jr and Wakefield aren't up and comers? Is that what youre saying?

That wiry smiling dude? As He-Man? :hehe:
He wasn't that creepy in Sanctum. Please, learn to separate an actor's actual talent from him playing characters that are meant to be disturbing.

I don't think it was the character's creepy demeanor that he was referring to. More like the actor's physical build. He-Man isn't supposed to be thin and wiry. Unless they're planning on CGing the muscles onto the actor, like The Hulk or Golum, or how they aged Brad Pitt in Benjamin Button.

Wakefield had a quite well-built body in Sanctum. If it's not enough, he could always get more muscles for He-Man.
I don't want an actual body builder in the role. That will be way too extreme

Do any of these versions of He-Man NOT look like a body builder to any of you?

Personally I could care less what the toys or cartoons look like. You might as well refuse to cast anyone for a GI Joe movie because no one has real life swivel-arm battle grip.

Actors aren't molded plastic action figures and just like superhero movies I don't expect talentless bodybuilders to be cast just so they resemble a ridiculously overmuscled Bart Sears drawing. It's 2015, why aren't we past casting wrestlers and weightlifters by now?

Certainly you want someone with good muscle definition but realistically finding a Chris Hemsworth (who can bulk up as needed) is far more likely than praying you stumble across a Mr. Universe competitor with the necessary talent and charisma to lead a big budget action adventure film.

Also that 2nd pic with the guy wearing duct tape and a fur diaper is awkward to look at.

He-Man looks as much as a body builder as Superman does. But the question is if the live action version should have the same appearance.

I mean, has Supes ever looked like this in any of the films?

I think considering He-man is half naked, he may need to have the build. Superman doesn't really need it, nor does Batman.

Mask crusaders fighting over time, fighting crime! Loved that show and actually got the entire series on DVD a couple of years ago at the nice price of £8. :D

Like Pinky says it really is a no brainer to make it into a movie, the concept is money! :tmm:

So us Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors are tenth in line then.

Oh, Superman does need it. Man of Steel may have been garbage, but at least Cavill looked way better in the suit than Brandon Routh did.
