Cinephiles will know them, but I also highly recommend "The Mirror" and "Stalker" by Tarkovski.
Oh and thanks to all those who contributed to this thread. Definitely a lot of films I've never heard of and now have to watch.
Well you listed Delicatessen and especially City of Lost Children so...
In spider-neil I trust.
The Great Blue is good, even though it pains me to say it, cause Besson has turned into a total wh*re.
Have to check out this Dog Soldiers.
It's probably a bit too out there for most people but I really loved Across the Universe. It's a psychedelic movie based on the songs of the Beatles! Awesome!
Also, Mirrormask is one which faded into obscurity for some odd reason.
God I've been trying to find the Blu Ray for MONTHS and still no luck. I may have to order it off Amazon or something, even though its price was pretty steep last time I checked.
Have you seen McKean's short films? They're a blast.
Yeah, I've seen them. Actually, most of the films you've listedt:
Apart from Dog Soldiers and Attack of the Block. Which tells me I have to watch them.
Meatballs, Vamp, Secondhand Lions, After Hours, Tapeheads, The Money Pit & Pursuit of Happyness. Admittedly, some of these great movies may not be movies that no one knows about, but I would say some have been forgotten as time moves forward.

Suicide Kings - College boy rich kids hold mob boss Christopher Wallen hostage.
With Honors - Joe Pesci at his best!
Cube (And it's sequels) - Crazy sci-fi horror

David Gordon Green's All the Real Girls
It's such an honest look at relationships, and features one of my favorite Zooey Deschandel performances. It's a beautiful film.
Phantom of the Paradise
The Rapture
That's funny cause this movie is pure cheese comedy dealing with music-hall and the clashes between different types of Rock n' Roll in the 80s.
Thought I'd mentioned it so that nobody thinks it's a horror movie... I sure understand how it could scare a kid though. I was scared of E.T. when I was 5.
