Green Arrow and Aquaman fans

I've never quite understood how these guys haven't faded into obscurity. I've read some Green Arrow stories, but no Aquaman ones, and the GA ones didn't really strike a chord with me.

Can any fans clue me in to their appeal? What do you like about them? to my understanding, GA didn't really get an audience until O'Neil took over in the 70's.

At their cores, they're basically modern superhero versions of Robin Hood and King Arthur. Sure, they've had their low points, Green Arrow's Bat-rip-off days in particular, but they're still good characters and have had good stories.

Aquaman in particular is the single most underrated comic book character ever, and he's an amazing character.
