Green Arrow idea's.

the actor to play Olle must be atlest 6'1

Oliver Queen is 5'11 though. That's what the official bio used to say anyway (before DC decided to copy and paste bios from handbooks on their site).

McConoughey is pretty much to Green Lantern what Bale is to Batman, huh? I don't think you can find a better choice out there, quite honestly besides Dennis Leary 10 years ago...Unless the character is already established as Green Arrow with a sidekick that grew up and went off on his own and occasionally visits (Arsenal. Keeps calling him Speedy but he keeps telling him not to call him that anymore. Kind of a running gag.).

If you think about it.. Most stories about Ollies origine have stated that he tok inn Roy during the first year.. soo a Green Arrow origin movie must have Roy in in it .. or in the secound :P

Yeah, I would really like to see them play up the "old man" aspect of the character. Something the Batman movies will probably never get around to. He's this older/veteran superhero surrounded by these young up and comers. Even his name and costume are old school and maybe there's some black and white pics on his walls with him in his younger days without the facial hair.

I'd love to see a character arc where he doesn't want any help and wants to be completely self reliant. A superhero in mid-life crisis if you will. Maybe have him rescued by Arsenal, the new Speedy, and Black Canary. That'd be an odd twist. The hero/main character being the one who needs rescuing.

Dr. Light and Merlin absolutely HAVE to be the villains too. Imagine GA trying to take on these guys by himself, Merlin first, and gaining the upperhand only to be Blindsided by Dr. Light and be beaten and burnt to a pulp. Impaled by his own arrows in his hands. I wish I could find a picture but there was an issue of Teen Titans after Dr. Light regained his memory and did just that to Green Arrow. Forgot where he was impaled though. I'd like to see that scene in a movie but instead of being rescued by the Teen Titans, just have it be the Arrow family. A superhero movie with an established superhero family (I mean a group of people that got together and became family). I don't think that's ever been done before.

I love this idea. Thats why I think Denis Leary would be perfect.

I'm going to throw a new name in here. Jensen Ackles of Supernatural. He's got the attitude for it.

Jensen Ackles is Arsenal/Speedy or (in Marvel) Hawkeye for me. :oldrazz:

Say it with me:

Preferably darker shades of green though.

Approach the film not like a Superhero movie - but a thriller involving a political terrorist. No Super villain, just Ollie fighting for the common man against a corrupt government establishment/figure/etc.

Good suggestion. "The Longbow Hunters" costume is my favorate. As far as a villian, I could see Merlyn as kind of a Ra's character . I think the first film should have that " Nolan realism" to kind of sell the character.

Everyone suggests Keifer, but IMO, he's too big to play the character. I was watching Assault on Precinct 13 and I got to thinking that Ethan Hawke would make a good Ollie.
And he's old enough to make a convincing GA.

EDIT: Always forgetting one of the most obvious choics -- Cary Elwes.

Cary Elwes huh? Cool. Just hope he'd be able to get back in shape. As you can tell from my posts I'm all for an older Green Arrow. His origin isn't exactly something movies are made of (plus I'm tired of origin flicks anyway) so I'd like to see the movie done in the style of Blade or the first Batman where he's already well into his career. I'd like to see the movie based on the Quiver arc actually but with a more recognizable villain and no back from the dead stuff. Just an old hero who's decided to retire with Dinah. The city's safe, the villains are in prison, Roy's all grown up and is the only one still fighting crime, and Mia Dearden is adopted. I'd like to see Dr. Light escape and pretty much force them all back into the whole superhero buisnes.

Man, I really wish the WB would consider movies besides Superman, Batman, and Vertigo properties already because they are getting their asses handed to them by Marvel. Nowadays anything with the Marvel logo in front of it is gauranteed money (Elektra being the exception). DC needs that kind of recognition too. They're been around longer for christ's sake.
