Both are coming out in the same year, both are comic films and both are very different...to fans. Anybody worried that general audiences will somehow mix these up? I am. Whenver I bring up Green Lantern to anyone over 30, they think i'm talking about the Hornet. Anybody else think this is an possibility? Confusion, that is.

How could anybody mix them up? The only thing they have in common is that they wear green masks and are super-heroes. That's it.

Yeah, one would think but I've mentioned it to both my parents and to an few coworkers and they all thought i was talking about green hornet.I think confusion is definitely possible.

When I skim on news on the Green Hornet, my mind reads Green Lantern most of the time.

There's confusion since all they know are names. Once they see some trailers it'll disappear. Nobody is gong to confuse a pulp vigilante fighting street crime with an intergalactic police officer who uses green constructs to fight super-powered villains.

I think that's one reason why WB wanted to put Green Lantern out in Winter instead of Summer, because of Green Hornet. That, and it's a crowded summer already.

i know very little on the hornet character but heck even i know the differences between the two.

the key is in the marketing. its true that non-comic folks confuse Green Lantern with Green Arrow and Green Hornet (some even use them interchangeably, thinking they're somehow related). when GA was being featured in Smallville i couldnt recall how many times the name "Green Hornet" was used instead of Green Arrow by the general audience. the same can happen with Green Lantern unless the studio and its PR people make the franchises distinct from each other

Wouldn't surprise me, but I don't think it will hurt the movie. It's kind of like whenever I talk about the Flash people instantly say yeah, I love Flash Gordon. I'm like Flash Gordon can't beat you in the head a thousand times in a second.

If you confuse "Lantern" with "Hornet", you're an idiot. If you're too lazy to listen to the entire name, and associate "Green" with your childhood hero...you're an idiot.

"Green Day"...isn't that the superhero with a knockout gun?

I'm sure trailers will eliminate pretty much all confusion.

You know, once people see that one of them wields a magic ring that creates things and one...

Is Seth Rogen with knockout gas.

there's just a lot of ignorant people out there. I mean, the general public tends to be anyway. I've met people who keep on forgetting actors names, despite being fans of their work.

For example, here's a dude from work from a recent conversation:

"Like that guy from Knocked Up".

Oh you mean, Seth Rogen?

"Yeah, that guy."

But here's the thing: He keeps on forgetting Seth's name anytime he brings up one of his movies. Either my co-worker just doesn't care or he's just stupid. But that's how people are.

co-signed.

Well I have inadvertantly been doing my part to make sure there is no confusion because I generally preach my love of Green Lantern to anyone who will listen. For example, my girlfriend who has never read a comic book or heard of Green Lantern prior to dating me, could probably explain in depth his character and powers just from listening to me talk.

Yeah, that's another one. I want an Green Arrow movie, but I think his movie is going to have an harder time if it hits after these two. It SHOULDN'T matter but I think it honestly does. For some reason, the genral public want to believe there is an FINITE amount of superheroes that should exist. For some, they're like "you can have spidey and hulk but why do the others need films? or I like BAtman but the rest of the DCU SUCKS". And i've noticed it's mostly the general public who are like this too. And have you ever tried to explain to someone that the x-men, spider-man, and iron man all KNOW each other in the comics? They think that's ridiculous.

But But Green Hornet won't have that cool DC movie logo before the movie starts!
So if you accidentally walked into Green Hornet instead of Green Lantern you can just wait for the logo... if it's not there... GREEN HORNET... if it is... GREEN LANTERN

That's how I did it with Iron Man and Man of Steel...
I mean aren't steel and iron the same?

I read the title of the thread and was thinking Green Lantern / Green Arrow.

Marketing guys are going to have to work twice as hard if even a fanboy like me gets mixed up.
