Green Lantern: The Animated Series

I'm not very familiar with the comic book Red Lanterns. I don't like having them as the main antagonists for the show, but that's just because they're fairly new to the comic book GL mythos and I don't think they quite deserve to star in a show yet.

But I didn't think it was boring, at least.

I'm usually one of the first of my friends to put down cg animation. As I was watching GL last night, I didn't really notice the cg that much. The story telling was that good. I think I can look past the cg in this show. It works pretty good for GL.

Wonder how long it will take for the other coloured lanterns to show. I noticed Sinestro was quiet. I also noticed Carol was pushy yet concerned and in the dark, which means Hal is sure to be surprised.

Bring on Geoff Johns universe.

I do think they went to the Red Lanterns too early too. I think the villians should've been someone else maybe with planets talking about mysterious killer Lanterns and other clues before they turned up.

I liked Carol's look she was really nice. Kilowog was king of cool and his suit looked more like armour but Hal looked like he was wearing a baby's onesie and whenever he would fly he was bending his spine too much. It was like Hal's neck didn't let him look up so he had to bend his spine.

Terrific show. The clunky CGI character designs belie the show's intelligence. The writing was really impressive.

So this show actually ended up being pretty good. I like the red lanterns as the villians. As everyone else is saying the animation sucks. This show would look amazing in 2D.

I didn't think the cgi was clunky or hurt the show in any way, actually i think it's just what a proper green lantern animated series needs. There were sequences in the premiere that just wowed me with the depth and detail you normally dont get with normal animated shows because of the cgi, think about it, the cgi adds so much more in terms of depth and detail especially considering GL is all about space and all these galaxies. You really got a sense that the cgi just makes sense to use when taking on a universe of this scale and you want to make it come to life and pop. So im all for the cgi and think it works perfectly for this series moving forward. The writing was also pretty impressive as well. The voice acting is also rather impressive as well, from the Guardians to Kilawog and of course Hal. Overalli think this show has a bright future and i'll definitely keep watching it, it's no surprise its earned a 9.4 rating on imdb after its premiere, this show definitely packs a comicbook punch. Now with this and Young Justice and then DC Nation, CN is looking very promising.

The little I saw of the priemere I liked. The show has a good tone to it so i'll check out the nect few episodes. Parts of the show and the character of Hal himself seem to take some cues from the movie but I expected that.

Not a huge fan of the Incredibles meets Clone Wars character models but I didn't end up despising them either...which surprised me. I loved the First Flight/Emerald Knights models and wanted something like that for a GL cartoon.

I think the 3D animation will be a very good choice as far as the ring constructs go.

Loved the look of Oa. Some of the structures and lighting made me think of Tron Legacy.

1. That doesn't mean he won't make more complex constructs on THIS show. The fact that it was Jordan as the lead certainly didn't stop them from doing it in the movie. you can do things with these types of objects in 3D animation that wouldn't be as easy nor look as good as 2D no matter what the construct is.

2. There are more GL's on the new show than Hal Jordan.

The animation was great, it was simple but it didn't seem like 90s cgi like most are saying.
A reason? Because i was never able to watch thos shows because of that type of animation, i never got into Beast Wars because i allways found the animation disgusting, now with this the animation is quite good for the eyes, not as beautiful as Star Wars: The Clone Wars but it still has a great animation.

Looks good to me. You guys are just racist against 3D. :o

and here come all the Hal Jordan jokes....I get all the Rayner fans are ******** because their guy got the shaft over the past few years....but put it in perspective....Hal Jordan was in the GL role for almost 40 years....Rayner was bought in to basically be a Peter Parker type character....oh look Mr Relatable, he's an artist....I think Im an artist too...I like him...blah blah blah

I like this new show....I think its going to give a wide wide picture of the GL universe and how the Corps is structured

Lets put it in more perspective. Hal took the job from Alan Scott. It was fitting that he got removed for another. I would have rather somebody else entirely took over the role than effin' Hal come back from the dead.

I think some fans feel some roles are interchangeable and some are not....change Green Arrow, then bring the old one back....change Green Lantern, then bring the longest tenured GL back....

this show is starting with the Silver Age mythos and that is fine with me.....again, I think the Corps at large is going to be a big part of this

I don't really give a s**t to tell you the truth. They coulda used G'nort and as along as it was good, I'd have watched it. :o

the Reds just took out a planet to start the series....I think the scope of the story is going to be big

Yeah, took out a planet and killed one guy. :o

Id like to think vaporizing a planet is kind of a big deal...blew my 9 yr old nephews mind....he thought it was super cool

I'm not much of a cartoon fan but I thought it was an awesome show.
Wish the movie was that good!
Looking forward to the next one.

Pfft, it was no Alderaan. :o
Alderaan blowing up blew back then and still does now (pun intended). We didn't know any inhabitants, so any drama would have to be rung out of the characters, and Princess Leia promptly forgets her home was destroyed in five minutes and starts cracking wise with short stormtroopers. I've gotten more upset over my hair style than that.
