Green Lantern: The Animated Series

and here come all the Hal Jordan jokes....I get all the Rayner fans are ******** because their guy got the shaft over the past few years....but put it in perspective....Hal Jordan was in the GL role for almost 40 years....Rayner was bought in to basically be a Peter Parker type character....oh look Mr Relatable, he's an artist....I think Im an artist too...I like him...blah blah blah

I like this new show....I think its going to give a wide wide picture of the GL universe and how the Corps is structured

Hal Jordan is the iconic Green Lantern. The quintessential one that most of the public at large who do know about the character think of for various reasons (Superfriends, the filmation cartoons, etc). Just like Dick Grayson or and others still get used when there's a media adaptation using a character who has run through different mantle holders.

I totally understand why they went with him for the cartoon and the movie. They didn't bring him back for nothing. May as well use him now that he's the one being pushed in the book.

The cool thing about the Corps concept is that ALL the popular Lanterns from the comic can show up (Stewart, Gardner, Rayner, etc) so there's always that for the Kyle fans.

Lets put it in more perspective. Hal took the job from Alan Scott. It was fitting that he got removed for another. I would have rather somebody else entirely took over the role than effin' Hal come back from the dead.

He didn't take the job. He took the name of a failed character from the 40's. Replacing magic with science. Alan Scott isn't really a factor. Just like the android Torch isn't really a factor to Johnny Storm. Ask anyone who the Human Torch is and they don't say **** about the Android. They say, "Flame on guy?"

Just like everybody thinks of Hal Jordan.

I don't really give a s**t to tell you the truth. They coulda used G'nort and as along as it was good, I'd have watched it. :o

Now the truth comes out.

:D

Actually, thanks to JL/JLU everybody(and by everybody I mean the non-comic fans of this generation) thinks of John Stewart.

Flash Fact. :o

So what demographic is that? People who were born from 85-89? A small demographic. Everyone else > John Stewart Fans > John Stewart.

:hal: :hal: :hal:

Sorry Frankie, but you're no longer part of the target demographic. Your opinion no longer matters....well, I believe they still wanna know what you think when it comes to Adult Diapers. :o

exactly....we are NOT the target demographic for this show....I think if they get the older fans, its a nice bonus but that is really it

While i liked them the Red Lanterns kind of looked like cliche cartoon villains, Atrocitus is the cool evil guy and has that ball thing trying to be evil and unitentionally funny

I'm pretty sure that race of being has always been intentionally funny. :o

I liked Kilowog and that other GL laughing at Hal about his "secret identity"

Yup.

Reason number 4 why John Stewart is superior to Hal. :awesome:

John gets by with that because he's from the hood.....folks in the hood don't care about superheroes, they got s*** to do, rents gotta get paid

Everyone is going to have there own feelings who is there gl.

and that's fine....differences make us great

what I have issue with is the automatic assumption that removing or replacing one with another will AUTOMATICALLY make things better....

yes Jordan was replaced with Rayner....and 10 yrs later what happened?

With the success of this style of show for Bruce Timm, do you guys think if this show has a good run that we could possibly receive another cg dc show later on? If so, what superhero should it be

I honestly think Booster Gold could carry his own show....play up his whole media ****e thing, tie in "reality TV" and his blatant self promotion and I think it could be watchable

As in by Bruce Timm and following his style? If he has time for it, maybe? Or maybe after GL he gets another show?

This is what the upcoming new Batman show looks like:

Yeah i meant do you guys think Bruce Timm will follow this cg animation more often now? And if he does do another show like this, what character would you want and what character would fit the cg style well? So far from what i've seen im not a fan of Beware The Batman, something about it seems off

i didn't like that the lanterns only used the aura in space, they should use it whenever they fly. also im hoping to see some rage crazed red lanterns. i know atrocitus can talk, but i figure these 2 were probably his 2 "generals". so the lower red lanterns will probably be rage induced non speaking beings. like if they ever show their ceremony they spoke of it will have a huge crowd of those red lanterns we know from the introduction of the red lanterns in the comics.

ok, now the animation. im trying to get into it, but at times it just looks like unfinished samples. it is really smooth. i can deal with it though, i am just happy to see space flying.

i also agree the red lanterns in the first episode is kind of blowing your wad. i thought those promos were from the season when we saw the red lanterns, not the first episode. i thought we would get some sinestro corps first then after they are defeated the red lanterns show up.

Caught the premiere on Friday. I'm not much of a GL fan in any way but I thought the show was pretty good. I hate CGI animation, but the story was pretty great so I'm willing to look past that. I hope they don't spend too much time in space and show GL on earth fighting some DC villains instead of just the Red Lanterns.

I noticed that the show isn't on Cartoon Network's schedule next week. Have they said when this how will start airing regularly? Perhaps the Friday after next since Batman: The Brave and the Bold only has one episode left?
