Perhaps, this has been done before, but had there been a Batman film many, many years ago, would you consider Gregory Peck the ideal Bats?

I would.

I think he would have been a great Batman or Superman

He looks like Clark Kent in "Too Kill A Mockingbird"

Frank Miller beat ya to it.

Stares at Warhammer's avatar...

...anyway, yeah Peck would've been cool.

As I said on Welles' THE BATMAN thread, yes Peck would been great and Cary Grant would been great as Bruce Wayne/Batman too.

Bob Kane himself said Peck was the roiginal inspiration for Bruce Wayne's initial look. I did cast a 1940s' era Batman flick a long time ago, I should repost it.

Here's a cast I made a long time ago fro a 1940s' era Batman film by Hitchcock:

Edawrd G. Robinson as The Penguin is sheer genius.

"Nyeah ya see, wah wah wah!"

ANTHONYNASTI, I would put Conrad Veidt or Lon Chaney as the Joker, but they're from the silent era sadly. so, it wouldn't work out....

Yeah. Batman wasn't even invented yet. If it had been Veidt would've been perfect since he was the inspiration for The Joker. But Widmark really nails the smile.
