Plus, it wasn't like Ronan didn't overwhelm Peter Quill before long. It just took a page or two.

I agree, Bug is cool and I am liking him on the roster.

I also do like the pace. We're so used to decompression that things having moved this much in 8 issues feels alien (pun intended) when even in 1999, it wasn't uncommon.

You guys know how long Dong Bozo, or whatever his name is, will be on art? I really liked last issue, but was sorely missing Pellitier (sp?). I hope he's back very soon.

Edit. Looks like Pellitier is only doing War of Kings, as according to Marvel's site, he's not drawing GoTG at least until after march. That sucks.

It's always a shame to see an artist as good as Pelletier go, but I think it's the right choice to have him draw the big event rather than just one comic that'll be tying in. Dazo wasn't too bad, I thought. He's a little inconsistent, but I can follow his storytelling just fine.

Yeah, I can follow him too. I just prefer Pelletier, that's all. Sure it's a bigger gig for him, I just don't want to see him go and GoTG have fill in artist for 6 or 7 months.

Dazo is bad. I was just dissapointed to not seeing Pelletier. :csad:

Looks great. I love how dry Peter is. "Everything's gonna be fine... in the long run. Not now, obviously." :D

That is a cool preview. Walker's art is good.

It is a shame to see Pelletier go, but he couldn't draw GOTG and WAR OF KINGS. Maybe he will return after that wraps.

He still had his powers when he couldn't walk.

I was under the impression that he never lost his powers. It's just hard to perform feats of superhuman physique while confined to a wheelchair.

I like how simple and pragmatic Jack Flag's addition to the Guardians' supporting cast is. A lot of people b**** when established heroes change their context ("the X-Men shouldn't do space stuff!" or "Spider-Man shouldn't do magic stuff!"), but the fact of the matter is that all that s*** exists in their universe, so why the hell not? Flag's just like, "Hey, you guys healed in five minutes what was a permanent case of paralysis on Earth. Maybe I ought to stick around and see what other cool stuff you've got." Sensible. I dig it.

Yeah I've never had a problem with characters taken out of their normal context.
In the case of the X-men in space or Spiderman with magic, it's fine so long as it's not permanent.
Thats the case mostly because their regular context works so well for them.

In the case of obscure b or d-listers like Jack Flag, there is no real regular context that works particularly well so why not chuck him into space?

Realistically, if you were exposed to the crazy, awesome sci-fi s*** in the cosmic part of the Marvel universe, wouldn't you want to stay out there? Sure, it's dangerous, but so is Earth if you've got powers but not a strong reputation.

I'd probably stick around in the cosmic scene for a few years trying to build some rep/resources. Then get my hands on a nice little ship and whatever alien tech I could. Take it back to earth, put out patents on all the tech I've accumulated and retire.

Seriously, why is all the technology available to Joe Q. Marvel so pedestrian compared to what's available?

Why doesnt everybody have flight jackets and flying cars and ****?

Because the people who run comic companies like to think that their comics could take place in the real world for some reason. It's just a part of the genre that all super-geniuses are apparently lazy and/or greedy bastards who won't share their s*** with anyone.

We see Reed putting out patents all the time and such, and the FF never hurt for money because of it but the public never gets to see any benefits from those inventions.

Every advanced technological invention/innovation seems to go straight to SHIELD/government use and never go any further down the ladder than that.

Which to me is bull.

But I suppose it's believable when you remember that the government in Marvel is virtually always comprised of 99% evil bastards.

I hope he punches him in the face for thinking about it. You gotta EARN the use of that shield. Jack's a long way away from that particular honor.

Well, Vance doesn't even remember what he did to earn the right to use it, so should he punch himself in the face, too? :oldrazz:

I would, not at all, be opposed to that reaction on his part.

On a more serious note though, I dont think Jack should get to use the Shield at all.
I dont like the idea of Vance handing the shield off to him or anyone else for any length of time. His Amnesia is all the more reason not to.

It's the one thing in the universe that he can hold on to as his own. Whether he remembers how he got it or not, it wouldnt make sense for him to be carelessly letting some random new guy ex-cripple play with it.

Yeah, the shield is Vance's in the Guardians of the Galaxy timeline and he deserves to keep it. He's basically the Captain America of that timeline, in fact--a celebrated astronaut who becomes an intergalactic hero after most of humanity is wiped out by the Badoon. He's definitely earned it.

But Jack is Captain America Lite. He should get to throw it at least twice. His hair is literally the American flag afterall :o

Yeah that ain't one you can pin on Quesada, the F4 and Iron Man and whoever all else have been hogging the awesome sci-fi BS since forever. As the kids are saying these days, Reed Richards ain't worth ****.

In fact one reason I liked early-00's Superman comics so much was them deciding to be an exception to this; they actually futured the hell out of Metropolis from top to bottom and just had everyone dealing with this crazy-ass sci-fi city.
