Who is the dude with the weird hair?

Jack Flag, formerly one of Captain America's star spangled ally heroes, who was crippled by the Thunderbolts and sent to 42, now part of the GOTG. I am assuming you meant the guy whose hair is a lot like some flavored snowcones in color. ;)

Oooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh, that guy. WTF happend to his hair?

He died it red, white, and blue to show what a patriotic superhero he was. While he was running around with a bandit mask and blue jacket, fighting crime with boom-boxes fashioned into weapons before a nice chemical bath made him super-strong.

Hair-dye was the star spangled spandex of the 90's. :)

Considering his hair was brown when Bullseye paralyzed him, I guess he got some spare dye in 42. I would have gone for a shiv, for self defense, but what do I know?

Oh, well, it must have been the art. He looks more like somebody stuck three dudes with different hair styles together. So, the Guardians sprung him from the big house or something? God damn i miss buying comics. :(

42 was based in the Negative Zone, which Ronan set up Blastaar to rule for the time being lest it spawn more space wars from a sheer power vacuum without Annihilus. Blastaar found 42 and decided to use it as a bridge to attack Earth. Peter Quill had been sent to the Negative Zone by Ronan (pretty much for the 5 minutes he ruled the Kree between the end of Conquest and Black Bolt showing up, apparently) and Blastaar used Peter as leverage to try to talk the 42 inmates into surrendering to his horde. A group of inmates had organized to battle the army, and Jack Flag was the only one of them who wasn't an outright supervillain (I believe they were Gorilla-Man of the Headmen, Condor, Bison and Skeleton Ki). Flag helped Peter fight them and Blastaar's goons off until Peter was able to contact Mantis telepathically via pummeling Carrion, another criminal inmate with minor telepathy powers, and summon the GOTG. Flag was convinced to join the team and their alien healers fixed his spine.

Considering Jack Flag's brother Drake had been crippled by muggers in his origin story, Bullseye crippling Flag in THUNDERBOLTS could be seen as especially traumatic. Jack's whole motive to be a crime fighter was because his brother was crippled and couldn't aid him, and the Serpent Society happened to be in the neighborhood. He'd been part of Capt. America's "Hotline" band of allies, but hadn't done much since the 90's until THUNDERBOLTS.

I like that Jack's got stars on his gloves. It'd be nice if the other Guardians could personalize their costumes a bit more.

Looks crazy, I really want to know how they're going to get out of this.

Eh, it's an alternate future. Everything can be set right pretty easily, no matter what they do with the original Guardians here.

I'm glad Charlie-27 is in the line-up. He was always my favorite of the Guardians.

I always liked starhawk and vance astro the best.

Vance astro is such a cool character..basically he's buck rogers.

Phyla refering to Crystal as "this hottie" was funny; also, Cosmo's encounter with Lockjaw.

I'm not clear why Brainiac 5 is so hot to take on Black Bolt. They don't have nearly that kind of firepower.

One can only assume the Imperial Guard's version of Brainiac 5 is nowhere near as smart as the real Brainiac 5.

I'm so going to love Jack Flag. He offers a great everyman perspective in the midst of all the cosmic stuff, which also opens him up for some good comedy, as evidenced by: "Uh... for Cleveland?" Can't wait to see how it all plays out.

That's a great preview. Jack Flag is quickly proving his worth as the everyman of the team. Peter Quill does that too, but he's been in space way too long to do that. Flag's just a C-List hero from middle America thrust into cosmic junk. It works.

The entire sequence rolls off very well. Good art and cracking dialogue. Can't wait.

Got to give props to Mantis for taking out Karnak. That's quite a feat for a martial artist. Granted, she is one of the best in the universe herself.

For the record, Jack Flag's strength was enhanced by serums similar to the stuff that Calvin Zabo uses to become Mr. Hyde, and he can supposedly lift about ten tons max.

Much as I hate seeing Karnak get treated like a chump, it worked in this case. Mantis and Karnak basically have the same ability as far as fighting goes, but Mantis is precognitive and telepathic as well.

Yeah, if any martial artist could lay out Karnak quickly, it was Mantis. She even said that she HAD to, otherwise he would have prevailed in a longer scuffle.
