Honestly, we live in a Hollywood age where I refuse to judge these kinds of things before the visual effects are added. My opinion right now is just to kind of shrug, but I'm sure it'll look much different after post.

I agree, with these kind of movies the set shots wont give you a true idea of how a character of this nature will look in the finished movie.

Honestly I kind of liked that scene. It's so very creepy and twisted (although I'm still trying to figure out why his face started degenerating again when he does that and stays that way, it's odd)?

One little detail in those images that I quite like is the bare feet. Because yeah, mummy's wouldn't wear shoes.
