Guns N' Roses: A Thread 15 Years In The Making

Argh. I picked up my vinyl copy today and the 2nd album is all f**ked up. It looks like someone touched it all over.

hahaha i got three copies of the cd, one vinyl, chinese democracy single cd and a t-shirt given out at the listening parties.

BTW, I got the CD single from a friend who bought it at the German Amazon site. Only place you can get it.

Anything special on the single? Bonus tracks and such?

I also blind ordered that Limited Edition reissue of Appetite. In a couple weeks I'll let everyone know what's on it and why it costs $22.

Nope, its just a CD with Chinese Democracy. They were sent to radio stations for play.

Only been one day since it was released and i already have so much. And i'm still waiting for the Dr. Pepper coupon so i can frame it.

Well i really like the Album, favorite songs being Shacklers Revenge, Better, There Was A Time, Scraped, Sorry, I.R.S and This I Love..

Let's talk about lyrics. Sorry is totally about Velvet Revolver. So is Riad N' The Bedouins. I think parts of the other songs, although they sound like they may be about failed relationships with girls, could also be somewhat directed that way as well, like IRS.

Mr. Brownstone, have you listened to your vinyl copy yet? If so, have you noticed skips on side 3, during Scraped and Riad? My new copy skips in the exact same places, and I'm wondering if it's just a defect across the board.

I'm loving the album can't stop listening to it, favourite songs are "Better", "Street of Dreams", "Cacther in the Rye", "This I Love" and "Sorry". But the whole album is ****ing amazing.

Most people think Sorry is about Slash and that songs like Street of Dreams, This I Love and all the others are about Stephanie Seymour.

I don't have anything to listen to it. I just bought it because I'm dedicated.:hehe::p

there was a leaked track called the Blues sometime back.... but I don't see it now on the actual album, was wondering if anyone knew exactly which song this has been retitled too or has it gone completely cuz it was such a sweet song when i got it leaked

The Blues is now Street of Dreams. Also, the leaked song that was labled "This I Love" is now called Prostitute, while This I Love on the album is a totally different song.

The more I listen to Sorry the more and more I love it. It really makes me think of Axl and the original band.

Agreed. This I Love is one of the best ballads I've ever heard. I just tested out my third copy of the LP, and this one finally works. No visible scratching/finger prints on the disc, and no skips. Looks like the first two were just incredibly unlucky coincidence.

I've been hearing about a lot of problems with the LP's from some friends.

Must have been a bad run of them. This one had a minor skip in Riad, but I brushed it off with some cleaner and that went away.

This album is what I was hoping for from Velvet Revolver. The natural progression of the sound the band had on Use Your Illusion. Instead, we got an album of them trying to sound like Appetite For Destruction and failing miserabley (although still a decent album), and then an album of pure s**t. This on the other hand, despite only having Axl and Dizzy from that line up, is just that. And it's lovely.

OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!:wow:

That would be AMAZING if he could pull it off (and who knows, maybe he could with the way things are looking)

Something I have been wondering is how is Democracy doing sales wise?

OMG I could jump out and down right now if it wouldn't wake everyone in the house up. I would love nothing more than the original band to get back together. I could see it happening actually now that Axl is the one trying to get it together.

Without a doubt, there is something going on behind the scenes with regards to the record company and Axl. From the promotion of the album to the supposed re-working of the contract between UMG and Axl, who really knows what the hell is going on. There are rumours that Axl was strong-armed into delivering the album and went AWOL as a FU to the record label. Then again, he put his own money into helping complete the album. Sales are projected to be less than 300 K and the album will chart at #3....Highly disappointing considering...

I highly doubt the reunion rumors because with Fink leaving, I'm sure the band is simply in disarray. I don't know how Axl's mind works (I doubt anyone does) but it doesn't seem likely that he would turn his back on a decade of his life and reunite with the old band at the MOMENT Chinese Democracy was finally released. Axl has a HUGE EGO. And he's usually MAD at someone, for something...anything.

Finck leaving is nothing. He's quit and gone back to NIN twice before this. Then he quits NIN and goes back to GNR. He's like Maynard in Tool and APC, he just goes with whatever band is more active at the moment. Right now, NIN are on a huge world tour, so he's with them. If the reunion rumors turn out to not be true, I'm sure Finck will end up back with GNR soon as they start touring.

that's so sad to hear about the disappointing sales... This album kicks a lot of ass... it's sad that it hasn't performed up...

They really should've tied up with walmart and then sold...
