We're talking about STRANGERS here. People who catch one little glimpse into someone else's life, without history, without context, without any other information regarding these two people, or how they might choose to deal with it, and then throw a grenade at them.

Who's throwing a grenade at who? I doubt anyone's blaming the spouse that was cheated on, and if you're the person who cheated then grenades should be the least coming your way.

Again, this isn't "normal adultery" in my mind, these people who are members are complicit in deceiving both their partners, and they're fine with being part of a site that actually revels in it and celebrates it. There's a difference.

- Cheating is cruel and never justified
- Deciding not to entertain the idea of sex after marriage is wrong
- Destroying someone's life (humilation, job loss, etc) is evil

This is a slippery slope in some cases. How some people in this thread can be so black and white about this is depressing.

And I can't believe there are people trying to justify extortion and personal ruin.

That's really beside the point. I never said my 2 cents on the leak. I just made a post about cheating and what I think of it. That's it.

If you grew up religious or saw your parents go through/get divorced because of adultery, I'd imagine you'd have a firm stance on the topic. I'm glad you and Rocketman are willing to join me in acknowledging the grey. /No Liam Neeson

I'm kinda excited to see the responses to our stance on the situation.

I don't know what Gandalf has to do with this, Spoons.

Because some armchair social justice warriors/faux moralists here and elsewhere are always eager to jump onboard anything that provides a pedastal.

Anyone who takes joy out of this is a shameful human being. Thousands of lives are potentially going to be ruined from this, it may even cost some people their lives.

Alright, I'll get the tiny violin if you cry the river.

You are all quick to play judge, jury and executioner on personal matters you have not personal interests in, have no connection to, and without all the facts. That's the big issues you moral crusaders are overlook, you don't have all the facts, but you're quick to condemn someone to death for something that, in the grand scheme of things in life and society, is completely inconsequential.

I am not a moral crusader. I hate adulterers. It's like saying you're against thieves or confidence tricksters.

I'm not condemning anyone to death.

If you're saying we shouldn't be taking joy out of someone living in a terrible part of the world being outed and potentially having their life put at stake, you're absolutely right.

If you're saying we shouldn't be taking joy out of some common suburban *****ebag getting caught in the act of looking for a mistress online.... well, maybe you're right.

If you're saying we shouldn't be taking joy out of a bible-thumping, "Family Values"-proclaiming, gay-hating son of a b**** who wants to strip anyone LGBT of any rights or dignity (or probably even their lives if he's being honest with himself) being outed as a ragingly hypocritical piece of garbage..... you're wrong. Period.

I know a guy thats on Ashley Madison. i wonder if his email address has been leaked.

I wonder if his wife's address has been leaked as well...

I'm more amused by the hypocrisy and incompetence that have been exposed by this whole thing. I have no shame in taking delight in that at all.

Pretty much my opinion as well. I'm mostly just laughing at Josh Duggar. I never said that I approve of the hack overall because I do not.

I don't approve of the leak/hack - people have the right to have their personal information protected absolutely. There's no debate on that front.

What I don't have sympathy for is actually getting caught being a cheater, sorry never will. Cheating is self-centered, self-absorbed, immature and often times dangerous. A good chunk of these people are certainly bringing back gosh knows what kind of STD's and nastiness to their significant others. So now, not only are you damaging someone emotionally but physically as well.

I don't see why all the headlines make this turn out to be some kinda scandal. I saw headlines calling out GOP folks, people in Congress...It happens, let the individuals involved deal with it. That said, I really feel for those whose wellbeing is on the line.

Well ,I think alot of us would agree with your position in which you can dislike the cheater or act without taking sides and sympathizing with the criminals who leak and hack. It seems that alot of people can't reconcile that you can feel both ways at the same time on the subject.

There's a difference between not feeling pity for those were hacked and cheering hack and defending the hackers. If you don't feel sorry for someone or feels they deserve to get caught, is different from advocating criminality and hacking based on your own moral beliefs toward marriages which, presumably, have nothing to do with you.

The prior is what most people would widely agree on. Its the latter is mainly what gets people riled up.

Yeah. Id feel especially bad for the couple I know that are on Ashley Madison. They use the site as well as other "adult social sites" to find prospective sex partners.

bottom line, people just don't like being called out on their ****.

In general I don't like cheating but I especially don't like it when the cheater is a high profile gay hating "family values" GOP/Conservative type. I'm sorry but I have no sympathy when those type of people are caught because they are horrible hypocrites. They deserve the humiliation.

I'm not asking for perfection but don't go around acting holier than thou and expect me to feel bad for you when your skeletons fall out of the closet.
