Halloween III, so misunderstood.

I have never heard a John Carpenter score that I didn't love, the man was a master.

So true, the man just knows how to have music set the mood so well. His scores seem basic and I think that's what makes them great. It seems Halloween 3 over time is gradually getting the praise it deserves which is good because I think its a movie that's hated mainly because of its lack of Michael Myers. Even as a kid when I first saw it I did for a minute wonder why it didn't have Michael in it being a "sequel" to part 2 but even at a young age I quickly realized they were going in a different direction and enjoyed the movie for what it was trying to accomplish. It's too bad that everyone had Michael fever and brought him back for part 4. It would have been awesome to see the Halloween series pan out how Carpenter originally intended.

Irish men make great villains :sly:

I actually love H3. Because it's not stepping on the toes of the Michael Myers continuity. It's not even part of it. It's just it's own stand alone little story, and it's a terrific Halloween tale with genuinely creepy moments.

I think it's gained a lot of ground since it's release. More people have embraced it for what it is, and not bashing it anymore just because it's not a Michael Myers movie.

Halloween III is awesome, no it's not a great film by any stretch but it has many things going for it, atmosphere, score, Tom Atkins!! It manages to capture the feel of the holiday probably better than any of the other films in the Halloween series and on that level I think there's only Trick 'r Treat that surpasses it. I always knew it as the one without Michael Myers and I think that's why it never bothered me that he wasn't in it. Still it should have been called something else so it wasn't a part of the Halloween series but hey it's done now.

Always been creeped out by this movie, much more than the Myers films. The scene of the "test" family alone is bonkers.

One of my favorites. Very underrated movie that gets dismissed very easily. Has more of a cult following. This is always a must watch around Halloween time for me with Halloween 1&2. The silver shamrock jingle is super catchy and fun.

Chariot of Pumpkins is probably my fav of Carpenter's musical work. That **** was mental.

Ditto, that music is amazing. Let's not forget though that Alan Howarth worked with him on that too.

Also Dick Warlock was in the film as well. For those who don't know he played Myers in Halloween 2.

I did not like this movie. This was awful. not much scary. In some parts it was just jumping scares, nothing else.

Nope. It was a lot LESS about jump scares. Like I stated... The "test" family scene alone makes the film. And that's not about jump scares at all.

Michael is a laughable villain except in the original Halloween where he was truly menacing and scary then in the sequels he becomes some sort of Jason Voorhees wannabe that can't die.

He wasn't exactly easy to kill in the original either.

Yeah:

-Stabbed in the eye with a coat-hanger.
-Stabbed in the neck with a big-ass sewing needle.
-Stabbed with his own knife.
-Shot like 6 times in the face, neck, and chest with a high-powered handgun at near point-blank range, then falls off a second-story balcony.

And all of that within a pretty short period of time. And yet not only did he survive, but he was able to get up and walk away really quickly.

As for Halloween III:

-The Anthology idea had potential and could have worked.
-The fact that it didn't include Michael Myers wasn't a problem, as Halloween II did wrap things up almost perfectly on that front.

It being a BAD MOVIE was the problem. The acting was subpar, the plot had a kernel of a good idea buried within it somewhere, but was ruined by terrible execution, it's full of holes, etc. Decent idea, REALLY bad execution basically.
