/\ Exactly, comically enough, prior to Zombie's Halloween I had an idea of remaking the film in a similar way that Zombie remade Halloween. Focusing part of the movie on seeing who this guy was prior to becoming Chucky, if we know more about him it might make him more creepy and more able to take it seriously- unless, it was never meant to be taken seriously?

Don Mancini was aware of how comedic the concept was, but there was atleast some intent of darkness to the tone of the first 3.

The past 2 are outright comedies, and Mancini actually wanted the next one to be a musical.

Honestly, I'd love to see more of a backstory to Ben Willis, the fisherman killer from I Know What You Did Last Summer. Despite the explanations in I Still Know What You Did, I'd love to see his transformation into becoming vengeful (before the hit-and-run).

That's one thing the movie had going for it, a killer who's actually scary.

CHUCK'S "BUY ME" SONG:

"Oh I'm a murdering goodboy doll.

Yes, that's right mommies- buy me for your kids and I'll be sure we'll have a-laughs-blast!

Oh yes that's just right. that's just right. that's right.

It's me CHUCKY!

THE GOOD MURDERER GOODBOY DOLL!

BUY ME!

He's one of the most underrated characters ever.

Muse Watson is great, and the backstory of what he did to his wife make him very real and added to his menace.

Disappointed the hell out of me that he never even got a proper trilogy, that direct to video "lets turn Ben into a text messaging ghost and replace him with a ****ty actor" third installment makes the first two look like absolute masterpieces.

I thought it was fun, but I'd like to see them go atleast somewhat serious like the first 3 again.

Mancini is gay, so that may have effected his choice for a musical.

yeah id like to see one with just chucky as the killer this time around

i dont think chucky would work though. it would seem odd if a boy got a good time doll. i would of liked to see a little more of charles lee ray in the first one but not half the movie. anyways chucky rules.
a nightmare on elm st remake would be good but i'd feel wrong about having someone else take over for robert englund.
I agree. It would seem a bit off for a kid these days to want something like a Good Guy Doll. What made that premise work in the original, was that alot of parents went absolutely nuts over getting their kids those Cabbage Patch Kids dolls during much of the 1980's. And to make such a much loved symbol of kids into a possessed killer wanting to take over the body of a young boy obviously struck a chord with audiences back then. Currently, I dont see the same kind of premise working as well.

If we're talking prequels to ANOES, and Child's Play. I can say I am interested. Yay.

If we're talking about remakes? No interest whatsoever. Nay.

Muse was the best thing about the movie. That and Sarah Michelle Gellar in her prime.

And Helen's parade scene in the first movie still gives me the creeps to this day. Muse did a great job at being a scary mofo in both movies.

That movie was absolutely terrible. It was just an excuse to turn Willis into just another scareless monster.

P.S. Was there a way for Michael to know Laurie was his sister in the original? Other than he is all-knowing evil, I mean.

Of course you could say they weren't in the original but the second was written directly by Carpenter, so that was is pretty much cannonized with the original (albeit we can fortunately ignore all the sequels afterwards). Just saying.

In the original, Michael is meant to be the embodiment of fate (ie. the scene where they're discussing the pesonification of fate as Michael stands outside the classroom).

I don't think that symbolism was there to him in the remake.

Agreed, and that's one of the problems with the remake, in my opinion. Michael is treated way too much as a literal character to convey anything other than a man in a mask.

hopefully its remade in 2013... then my plan will be complete. MOST major slasher remakes will have come out 29 years after they're original release...

talking of 2013 they should do friday the 13th part 13 in 2013 :yay:

That and, unlike Michael and Jason, Freddy's only been portrayed by ONE actor.

CFE

would you want freddy recast though? Unlike Michael and Jason.. Freddy had a personality and spoke..

thats the man Robert Knepper the next Freddy

The sequels could just be horror movies that take place on Halloween.Instead of calling them part 2,3,4,etc.they could just put the director's name in the title like,"Frank Darabont's Halloween","Zack Snyder's Halloween",etc.

It could be like a new type of franchise, like a "Masters of Horror" type of thing.

While I do think it would be cool to have a series like that, I think they should all have Michael Myers.

I don't. I don't want anyone but Englund in the role. The day he dies is the day the character should be retired IMO.

He was really good but its not like he s not replaceable. Robert Knepper can do a good job too
