Mark Hamill – the voice of Joker in Batman: Arkham Asylum – has hinted that the super villain's appearance in the sequel could well be his last. Talking exclusively with IGN at the Cannes Film Festival, Hamill said of his role of the Joker, "This will be my last, there's no question about that. But it's the last hurrah."

Hamill added that he was also unsure as to whether he should even have appeared at all, initially thinking developer Rocksteady would be unable to top the original game and that he "wanted to be able to say I'd gone out on a high note," but was finally convinced to resurrect Joker once more.

Hamill also revealed how he's extremely protective over the role, but equally was blown away by Heath Ledger's interpretation of the character in The Dark Knight: "He was the most joyless Joker. Not a hint of theatricality; he was almost like a heroin addict. It never would have occurred to me, and that's why it was so delightful and surprising."

To find out what convinced Hamill to sign up for the first Batman: Arkham Asylum and how Hollywood A-listers often struggle to get their heads around acting in games read the full interview .

Best voice we've ever had for the character and its hard to imagine a better one coming along any time soon.

This is actually really sad for me..

He will and always be the best joker cartoon representation I think we will ever have.

I just hope the series stands the test of time and my children can enjoy his voice just as much as I did.

How many times has said he's done with the character?

I'll be sad to see him go, but he's had a phenomenal run as the Clown Prince of Crime. He's the Joker I grew up on, & he'll always be my personal favourite (with Ledger running a very close second). In any case, I can't wait to hear him again in Arkham Asylum 2!

Mark Hamill is easily the best Joker ever, no question. However Ledger is my favorite.

Its about sending a message:hoboj:

LOLOLOLOL.

This is rather sad. I grew up with his voice. It was flawless. He is not only the best cartoon interpretation, he's just flat out the best incarnation of the Joker, period. Ledger is still a close second.

Well, I guess he can focus on his acting career.....oh wait. :o

Eh, he's still got two other voices.

If BAA2 is a hit then I can see him back for BAA3.

 :cmad:

From the article: "If Rocksteady repeat the success of the first game with this sequel a third will be on the cards, but it definitely won't feature Hamill's Joker. So does he die during Arkham 2? Hamill won't be drawn on what his determination to make this his last appearance means for the character, but the implication is obvious."

He said that B:AA1 was his last appearance. So I'm taking this is with a grain of salt

Damn :( The role of The Joker will never be the same, Hamill defined that character in so many ways. At least he had one Hell of a run as the character.

Well, yeah, cuz that one's kinda dead.

Never a big fan of BTAS but Hamill was great as Joker, and it's cool that Luke Skywalker is a comic book nerd.

If Robot Chicken offers him another Joker skit, I'm sure he'll do it.
