^No it wasnt, Mary explained that they grow old, she said nothing about losing powers for it to never return again or even losing them completely when they are together.

EDIT: Actually, just saw the movie again and she does mention that they lose their powers, BUT, she doesnt mention that the people who attacked them 80 years ago had any motivation, it was just a standard attack, when Hancock and Mary were together.

Cons:
- The whole thing between Hancock and Mary is not well developed. Will Smith and Charlize Theron have good chemistry, it's shame they didn't have more scenes together.
- Red oughts to be the lamest villain of all the superhero movies of 2008.
- The third act was rushed.
I agree, i liked the movie but the latter part was too rushed.

Anyone notice Michael Mann in the office scene with Bateman? Also, i really liked the Wolverine reference at the end.:woot:

The movie's box office so far....

Domestic: $227,381,199 40.6%
+ Foreign: $332,246,982 59.4%

I was more shocked to see Michael Mann producing it. It just doesn't seem like his cup of tea.

But yeah, third act, didn't sit right with me. But that won't keep me from getting it on DvD.

AVEITWITHJAMON thanks for not only seeing the flick again but also for paying attention. Something many people apparently couldnt bother to do the first time around.

The attackers arent really the big point, just that they were always being attacked which led her to leave him for good.

i thought this movie was great, not the BEST superhero movie, but definetly in the top dozen or so, for me anyways

the third act, i went into this movie hearing how it was rushed and that the last third suffered from getting rushed and all that, but when i saw it i was actually still as impressed with it as the rest of the movie. however, the dvd has an unrated cut that is ten minutes longer so maybe that'll help flesh out that part. although i DO know that there will be more in the jail part, since him getting off the bus chained by the ankles with all the other inmates and them getting dragged when he takes a step wasn't shown in the theatre

I will not be buying this dvd unless it has a director's cut or in an unrated release with the deleted scenes.

Well it had been a month since i saw the movie first time when we were debating, and not everyone can notice everything first around with a movie, so cut me and some others some slack.

Sorry I just have zero patience for people who cant pay attention and sit through a movie and then complain about stuff that is factually IN the same movie they ignored. Every theather dosent get a completly different cut of a movie.

^No it doesnt, but plenty of people have other stuff on their mind than movies, so its hard to remember every line of every movie you watch. Most movies I have seen this year I have seen twice, but I guarantee i will notice something new when i see each of them again.

At one stage he was even set to direct i think. Tonight, He Comes was according to some 'insiders' one of the best unproduced scripts in town.

Hmm..i wonder what they're adding to the unrated cut? Will this include the controversial rape scene?
Yeah, Was seeing it all over Tokyo while I was there this past week. (yeah, I'm braggin'!! So what?!?)
No problem with that.:woot:

It will for me :o

I saw it about a month ago but I never commented on it.

Hancock started out with promise. I enjoyed the whole selfish, drunken superhero idea but then it just went to shambles when the girl was introduced to have the same powers as Hancock. And the third act just didnt do it for me at all so I give this film a 5/10.

I just finally saw hancock at the local Dollar theater chain.. hey, i'd give it thumbs up.. it was a little too short, for my tastes, i would have preferred a 2.5 hour film...

an unspoken subtext i noticed was--

okay, 80 years ago, hancock and wifey went to see Frankenstein, but Hancock gets beat up by a racist mob, heals back up after wifey skips town, but has amnesia, then, does exactly what until 2008?

Dude had Superman powers throughout the 20th century Jim Crow era-- and they show nothing?!?!?

I want a prequel with KKK members and bigot-predators being thrown into orbit!!

Will should strike a deal with Marvel and get some prequel comics mini-series published...

Theatrical and Unrated Versions of Hancock
Any idea of the running time of the unrated version? This movie needs at least 15 more minutes to make this a much better film.

That can't save this film...oh well. It will more than likely be more of Act 1 when he was a drunk.

I'll probaly at least rent it, maybe there will be some deleted scenes in the DVD. I won't guy it though.

"Hancock" started well, but the third act didn't quite work... even though the movie picked up steam in the showdown. I really loved the entire hospital sequence.

More "honest" than many other blockbusters, but the story should've been developed better, especially in the third act.

I smell an animated series, a la Spawn...only humorous.

I remember when it was announced the title was Tonight, He Comes. My friend kept getting that one confused with I Am Legend. He was thinking that (Hancock) was I Am Legend, because, well it sounded more like a superhero movie.

Sometimes I don't understand studio thinking, why change the name?? Unless the script before didn't have as much humor as what we got.

I'm hoping we get an unrated version, and hopefully some of that extra stuff contains some 3rd act stuff. It flew by and was a mess of CG. It's like they got to that section and gave up finishing the story properly.

I don't know why, but I laughed when I saw the "1 Disc Unrated Version"

I've never seen a dvd advertise it was only one disc. haha.

The cover I'd like to see is, one like the Japanese poster, or something with him in the suit and the eagle near him. Of course just the face and glasses pic isn't so bad either.

But having Charlize on the cover with him, kinda insinuates a team-up. Or that could just be me.
