Comedy Happy Gilmore 2 on Netflix

Sandler seems kind of muted. I get that Happy found his happy place so he’s not as angry, but I mean, that’s kind of the fun of Happy Gilmore. And we know Sandler can still pull out that loud energy (Uncut Gems).

Also just the look of the film seems like color correction went way off. Netflix and all I guess lol

Still pulling for this.

Saw the original in the theater.

Still my favorite Sandler film.

I'll watch this.

Yeah this is gonna be stupid…but as a 90s kid im gonna watch out of obligation :funny:

It feels like they're trying to put too much into this movie, especially all the cameos. I'll still watch it and see how it is.

I like that all his sons have anger problems like him.

But like I thought with the teaser, Sandler seems extremely muted here which is on the opposite end of Happy Gilmore.

Can't be any worse than Dumb & Dumber To. I'll give it a chance.

In Happy Gilmore, Carl Weathers’ Chubbs Peterson was more than a mentor — he was the heart of the movie. A former golf pro with a wooden hand and eternal optimism, Chubbs helped shape Happy into the club-swinging chaos agent fans came to love. After Happy Gilmore 2 was announced, fans had been hopeful for more Chubbs magic. But as Adam Sandler recently revealed during an interview with Collider’s Steve Weintraub, Weathers’ untimely death forced a major rewrite — and a painful creative decision.

We had a painful change. Carl Weathers had a massive part,” Sandler told Collider. “I would talk to Carl, and we were excited, and then Carl passed away. We had to rewrite a lot of the stuff, and even what the story was. We made a lot of nice references to how great Chubbs was in the movie. That was the biggest change.”

Chubbs’ presence, it turns out, was meant to be far more than symbolic. In early versions of the script, the beloved character would’ve appeared frequently — visiting Happy in dreams and even setting up a new emotional arc involving a family member.

“In the first version that we came up with, he had a son. He was coming back to me a lot in my dreams, and he had a son who was mad at Happy for causing the death of daddy.”

I enjoyed the hell out of it. Sandler in great form. Love what they did with Shooter. The humor was right in line with the first movie. Had a lot of heart. Lots of throwbacks that didn't detract from the story.

It's a harmless bit of nostalgia. I can't really say more than that, it was just a pleasant watch.

Sandler's daughters were quite good in it, I can see them carving out decent careers for themselves.

This was better than I thought it would be.
The decision to kill off Julie Bowen (in the first five minutes no less) was lame. Surely there could have been a better way for Happy to hit rock bottom. Some of the cameos were fun, like Eminem as the son of Joe Flaherty's "Jackass guy" from the first one and Boban Marjanovic being the son of Richard Kiel's character and Sandler's real life mom yet still having a thick Serbian accent was stupidly hilarious.

Killing your wife is hard to top after Chubbs. :o

Fun fact: Happy Gilmore 2 currently has a higher critic score than the first one. :o

Not as good as the first one (★★★★★ an all time classic) but not a disaster as one may expect. ★★★☆☆

Some bizarre story choices amidst all the key dangling and callbacks. Less tight of a script (and less focus) but there’s laughs to be had in this almost heartfelt dramedy.

This started out pretty rough but ended up being way better than I expected it to be. The jokes and all the random camoes will make or break it for you but they mostly landed for me.

I kind of loved the arc they gave Christopher McDonald in this which was completely unexpected and a nice surprise given how his character was reintroduced and how the first movie ended.

Also, Eminem's cameo was freaking hilarious and easily the best part of the movie lol.

This movie isn't as good as the 1st one. I never expected it to be. But, it's more or less fine. Very similar movie, but I have seen worse in the nostalgia sequel era

Yeah I expected trash, Sandlers comedies haven't been the level they used to for sometime, but this was surprisingly decent. Yeah, not the original level but the sheer number of high profile cameos and surprisingly decent storyline they went with, with the old guard v modern Influencers in an OTT hyper golf face off was fun. Some jokes didnt work as well as others but thats the way these things go sometimes. Not bad for a streaming movie.

The litmus tests are Jack and Jill, Pixels, and those Grown Ups movies.
