Harpers Island

It's not playing this week, but it will be back the following week.

It said that last saturday. It said it'll return in 2 weeks.

I was just reading in Entertainment Weekly about Harper's Island being cancelled...

I wonder if they will finish out the run, or stop it where it is? Tonight's show did show a preview for next week's episode.

I'm pretty sure they're still gonna just wrap up the season

after tonight episode I'm more confident then ever that the Dad has something do to with it obviously

I thought it was only a one-time run anyway though?

exactly...I mean, once you find out whodunit, not really much more room for story lol
who knows with networks though

It is likely that CBS will finish it just because they already have all 13 episodes filmed and its summer, what else do they have to play?

As for the Sheriff being involved, I've been thinking that from the beginning. I also think he was in on the original murders, although I'm starting to suspect that John Wakefield may be innocent and the Sheriff may have been the original killer.

Who's place did JD go in at the end of the show? The guy with the scarred face...

Wasn't that Wakefield? He looked very similar to the guy in the pictures.

I think it is a red-herring. We're meant to believe it is Wakefield and JD is in on it...but I don't buy either. If the killer on the show is a copy cat as the sheriff and his daughter are claiming, then it is reasonable to assume he is using at least some of Wakefield's methods of murder. Otherwise he is not a copy cat, just another serial killer. The killer has already used fire to kill the missing bridesmaid. Therefore it is reasonable to assume Wakefield may have used fire on a victim or two. With that logic, I'm thinking the guy in the woods might be a victim that Wakefield tried to burn who somehow survived. It would explain why he lives a paranoid exisitence surrounded by barbed wire, keep out signs and sets vicious dogs on anyone who goes within 100 yards of him.

I thought the guy who let his dog got at the father and daughter in the woods was the killer, because his face was charred. But yeah, I see your point there, Matt.

Good thing, in a way that I am not the only one watching this.

Also, it's gruesome how these death scenes are. How did Boone die?

See this is why I don't like TV. There is always the potential of unfinished stories. You ever wonder why people watch Stupid sitcoms, & reality TV this is why. Because if it ever gets cancelled you are never left wondering.

I can understand networkd dropping a show because of lack of ratings, but why can the network atleast give a person heads up, so that they can try as best they can to finish it properly?

They ARE finishing it properly. They're just not doing a second mystery event and since Harper's Island is entirely self contained we'll get closure.

I don't see the point in taking it past this run anyway.

I think they were going to do another mystery event if it was successful. Like, another self-contained story next summer in a different setting, different characters, different history, etc. At least that is what the producer said, but it wasn't so it is moot.

Yea, pushing the limits on network tv, I think. The cheating father got killed very gruesomely.

I think Boone died by accidental shooting himself in the thigh and bleeding out quickly.

Does that little girl know more than she is telling people?

That what I wondered about the little girl. I think she is aware, more aware than the others.
Yes, thanks for the info.

I just seen last weeks ep now. And that kill was super cool this week. i had to rewind it again in slow mo to watch it again.

As for the killings they said they filmed them as if they were filming a movie and just edited down what needed to be taken out.

But when the dvd is released you can see it how it was originally filmed.

Interesting episode...only gripes I have--

In the Sheriff's attic they find:
photos of someone that could be Wakefield
possible fingerprint matches to Wakefield
post cards to the Sheriff saying LIAR

But after digging up a grave and seeing a Skeleton they take Daddy's word that Wakefield is dead---did I miss something??!!?

I think Daddy has a little more explaining to do than--"See I told you something was buried here!"

And how come neither Henry or the Sheriff's daughter had something to say about him locking the brother in a freezer for god's sake to keep him from digging up the grave.

Other than that I am very excited to see the conclusion of all this. I've had some gripes (deaths going unnoticed for so long of key people involved with the wedding). But all in all it's been a fun story.

I would like more self contained mini-series type shows such as this to fill the summer months. If only they would get the same kind of ratings as the mindless reality dribble.

Every episode's title tells a part of how that someone dies. I never figured the out until I focused on that. How Odd!

Its not as if this show got bad ratings on its original night anyway like the network seems to think. But frankly I do hope they do another mini series mystery next year, its a fresh way to bring something new to summer, cheap to produce, and entertaining to watch.
