Harpers Island

This show is intense. Insanely intense. I can't wait to see what happens next. Who goes next.

Any one else thinking there are two killers? Every character has an alibi. There has to be two in play. My guess is the British guy might be in on it. He was alone when Marty died so he could've done it, and the hanging from the rope was too convenient as are his lack of connections to the wedding party. He is too conveniently disconnected.

I just looked up the director, didn't realize he worked with Stephen King so much.
Storm of the Century, Rose Red, Kingdom Hospital....explains why I'm drawn to it lol

I liked the little montage at the end of coming episodes.

This is a good mystery thing, you really don't know who to expect al all.

"You found her, now find me."

Creepy. I am loving this show.

My theories so far...

- There are two killers. Every main character has an alibi for the bridesmaid's murder. So it is either a character we have yet to see/a minor character (which would be a huge disappointment considering they've been playing up the whole 'everyone's a suspect' card) or a main character (i.e. part of the wedding party) with a minor character as an accomplice.

- Despite the note, I still can't help but think the Sheriff was in on it and perhaps worked with the original John Wakefield and then killed him to cover his own tracks.

- Though it is curious that no one was actually murdered (instead Hunter died by way of boobie trap) when the brother of the groom (creepy goth guy/last person to be with Kelly) was incapacitated.

I love this show though.

I still think the killer is...
the groom.

I am also beginning to think that the killer is actually a pair.

I've been suspicious that
the father
was the killer since the first episode...might just be my own thing but I always go for that character :o

The show it just getting better and better though in my opinion

Thanks to the Irish for Elaine Cassidy's boobs. The only reason I can make it through an episode.

He does seem almost too good to be true, but he has an alibi for every murder so far. Of course his alibi is the bride, and if she is the second killer...it works.

Bride's father or main character's father? If you mean Sheriff/Main character's father, I agree. If you mean bride's father...I dunno, he seems like too much of a red herring. And I agree, it keeps getting better. I personally am loving the ride

Oh yeah I mean the Sheriff...Father of the Bride has other weird things going on that kinda set him up to be a bad guy...so I doubt he'll actually end up being it

Yeah, I agree. It is too convenient that he killed Wakefield. I think he was Wakefield's partner or something and killed him to cover his tracks and now that daughter is home, he wants to finish the job he started by killing her mother.

my friends and i are already hooked...i love a great who dunnit....and this one is spinning a classic approach with a modern hook...awesome so far...and the best part...we're not going to be dragged on season after season...its only a 13 episode run and thats it! thats ballsy if you ask me.

I just saw a preview for Harper's Island saying that it's new time is saturday night's at 9pm! :cmad:

Really? Thats stupid! Theu prolly got scared off by that southland show on nbc.:cmad:

I'm pretty sure it said 'new night and time' and not 'special night and time'. It just ticks me off! I've gotten into this show, and now I'm probably going to miss it because I'll be out some saturday nights. I checked the local guide to see what was replacing it...it's a REPEAT episode of Criminal Minds.

Thats just friggin stupid! "Oh yeah, lets just move a show people like and replace it with a repeat of a show!"

They better play all 13 damn eps also! Pisses me off to much.

I'm sure when most tune in to see it, they'll think it got canceled and thnk nothing else more to it. They should atleast showed one more ep this thursday and then say during the show its moving to Saturday. Thats a very stupid part on CBS there.

I don't trust the best friend chick. She is to nice. She could be the one telling the guy who is there & where they will be at the time. That creepy little girl that stole the bag with the beer in it is also suspicious

I just hope this move doesn't signal the end. Does anyone know if all episodes are guranteed to air? As much as they've been hyping it up, I would think so...but now that it's apparently moved nights...

Well ,they kept saying its going from April to July, so i would think so.

And i heard this was getting more viewers then Southland did. Its getting Over 10 million while the southland show is getting over 9 million. But The southland show is getting the 18-45 crowd. That better not be the reason their moving it. Cause the 18-45 crowd isn't home mostly on saturdays.

Its like someone from the cw is running CBS now all of a sudden.

Harper's Island: CBS Sends Mystery Series Packing... But It's a Good Thing?
CBS has announced that they’re pulling Harper’s Island series from its high-profile, post-CSI timeslot and sending it to a primetime deathslot. However, the network contends that the move doesn’t diminish their faith in the series.
Harper’s Island revolves around a group of family and friends who come together for a wedding on a secluded island. Before the nuptials can commence the wedding guests are slain, one by one, by a mysterious killer. The show’s ensemble cast includes Elaine Cassidy, Christopher Gorham, Katie Cassidy, Cameron Richardson, Adam Campbell, Richard Burgi, Jim Beaver, C.J. Thomason, Victor Webster, Jay Brazeau, Dean Chekvala, Matt Barr, and Harry Hamlin.
The premiere of Harper’s aired on April 9th, opposite NBC’s new Southland series. The show won the timeslot in total viewership (10.49 million) but was second in the 18-49 demographic with a 2.7/8 rating/share. However, when you look a little closer, those numbers aren’t as positive as one might think. Harper’s lost over a third of its CSI lead-in audience and almost as much in the coveted demo. On top of that, about 10% of Harper’s audience tuned out midway through the premiere episode.

The second week, Harper’s dropped to an average of 8.17 million viewers and a 2.2/6 rating/share. Last Thursday’s installment fell once again to an audience of 7.45 million and a 2.0/6 in the demo. With this steady decline and consistent loss of the CSI lead-in, it certainly didn’t look like Harper’s was long for this world.
It’s no shocker that CBS has sent the 13-episode series to Saturday nights at 9pm beginning this week. Repeats of Criminal Minds will fill the timeslot for the immediate future.
But CBS has put a positive spin on the decision, based on the DVR and online viewership numbers. Kelly Kahl, the network’s Senior Executive VP of Prime Time, says, “The preliminary DVR and online streaming data suggest a passionate audience for Harper’s outside its current Thursday time period borders. This move gives us an opportunity to improve the time period on Thursday while experimenting with more original programming on Saturday, and continuing to serve an audience that is clearly engaged in the ongoing Harper’s Island story.”
Though this season of 13 episodes was always intended to conclude the mystery, the network was hoping to bring the show back for a second season, with a different cast and mystery. Though this move doesn’t completely close the door on that possibility, it’s highly unlikely. After all, when was the last time a show that was exiled to Saturday nights ended up returning for another season?

It may not have won over a lot of Dread Central readers' hearts, but "Harper's Island" isn't doing so poorly that it's being canceled. However, CBS is moving the show to Saturday night ... not exactly a ringing endorsement.
According to a story in today's Variety, the network will begin airing the show on Saturdays at 9:00 Pm. The word is that "Harper's" got a reprieve from outright cancellation thanks to its live-plus-seven Nielsen ratings, which exhibited solid DVR interest in the show's premiere, and it also earned a healthy online streaming audience.
Personally, I've been rather enjoying the series and am glad to see it's being allowed to run its course, which is most likely a result of the fact that all 13 episodes have already been produced and edited.

Harper's Island Takes a Stab at New Saturday Slot
Because Harper's Island is making a killing in the land of DVR playback and online screaming streaming, CBS is shuttling the slasher series to Saturdays at 9 pm/Et, effectively immediately.
Though many deem that destination a "death slot," CBS senior executive VP Kelly Kahl posits that the preliminary returns on the freshman series' DVR+7 playback and online streaming data "suggest a passionate audience for Harper's outside its current Thursday time period borders.

CBS ships 'Harper's Island' to Saturday
After three airings and diminished ratings for each episode, "Harper's Island" has been pulled from its Thursday night home by CBS and shipped off to the programming wilderness of Saturday nights. The innovative serialized murder mystery premiered on Thursday, April 9 to an estimated audience of just under 9.65 million viewers and a 2.4 rating in the key 18-49 demographic. Two weeks later, the show was down to under 7.5 million million, losing the majority of its robust "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" lead-in. "Harper's Island" will move to Saturday nights at 9 p.m. effective May 2. CBS has set episodes...

Appears Horror related shows never do to well.

Only CBS would be pissed about 7 million viewers that they change time slots to the death slot on Saturday night.

I know their such snobs. If any other show had 7 million viewers they be through the roof!

Atleast if it doesn't get finished we can see it on dvd. The producers said it was coming to dvd no matter what and the deaths would be unsenored.

CBS made a vital mistake, they shouldn't have premiered this opposite of Southland. They should've waited until the following week. This is the type of show you cannot simply jump into late.

Never the less, I've gotta admit, last night disappointed me to no end. This makes two episodes in a row without a move from the killer. Hunter was killed by a booby trap and Booth seems to have killed himself. The show is reaching the point where it is starting to drag. The killer needs to become a bit more proactive to shake things up.

Needless to say, I miss last night's episode... :cmad:
