The Dark Knight Harvey Dent...Assistant D.A. ?

Just watch Batman Begins again last night for the....uh...man, it's too many times that I've lost count, but I realized that Rachael tell the cop that she is the District Attorney, not the assisstant D.A., before she orders hims to let her go over the bridge to the narrows to find Gordan.

So I was thinking, if Rachael became the D.A. after her boss brought it in 'Begins' does that mean that ol Harvey will be intoduce in TDK as the Assisstant D.A.?

I think so.

So how does Harv become the D.A. in TDK that we all know? Well how did Rachel get her job, her boss was Killed!

This may be the same outcome for Rachael if the Joker does her in in TDK and tehn Harvey becomes the D.A. and his first act as the D.A. is to bring him in for the death of Rachael Dawes.

The whole Rachel Dawes character always bothered me, they should have rewritten her part and inserted Harvey. Just introduce him as a childhood friend (like Tommy in Hush).

i have a feeling Dawes was originally Dent, but WB made Nolan give Batman a romantic interest.

Her boss had been missing for 3 days and assumed dead (we, the viewer know he is), wouldn't she be next in line for the position?

I just don't see how Harvey going to come to Gotham and be the D.A. when Rachael has been the assisstant for xyz years and not be in that position for the next movie.

forgive my ignorance...but there can only be ONE district attorney per city? Gotham's a pretty big city...



...not to mention, if THE DA dies or is fired does that mean the next in line (assistant DA) will automatically become DA?

i have a feeling Dawes was originally Dent, but WB made Nolan give Batman a romantic interest.

Not necessarly. District Attorneys are either appointed by the chief executive of the region or elected by the people, it depends what system Gotham has. Rachael's becoming the next DA isn't guranteed.

that's what i was thinking. even if Rachel DOES end up DA, who's to say something won't happen to her for Harvey to take over?

she just stated that she was a district attorney, just because she didn't say assisstant, doesn't make it an officially title

you don't gain the title of D.A. becaue you boss dies

and as other people said, because the D.A. was messing she might of been temporally acting as D.A., until the new one (Harvey Dent) is apointed

But she DIDN'T say she was the " Assisstant D.A." as she was known in the movie till that point.

She says "Officer, I am a Gotham City District Attorney, let me pass". (It's sad I can remember that from memory). I don't think she's implying that she is THE District Attorney, but Assistant or not she is A district attorney. Even so, if she did fill in for Eric or whatever his name was, it wouldn't be for long. She is after all, only an ADA.

I mean After finch's death she probably is named the new DA I mean why would harvey take the position when she was the assistant of the DA that came before. Unless he's appointed, but iam guessing she will or has been promoted not only because of her boss's death but because of her work.

District Attorney is not a promotion. It can't be a promotion. Rachael was an assistant to the previous District Attorney, she wasn't appointed by anyone except the now dead DA. Becoming the full District Attorney is not like "Oh gee, your boss is dead, well now you get it". No. She's going to be lucky if she keeps her job, let alone pursue becomming the next District Attorney.

according to the wikipedia on the dark night he is already the D.A as he is helping batman and gordon catch the joker without killing or harming him it also states that it is the joker who scares him
