has any comic made you cry or come close to crying

for me it was the scene between hal and his father in the first issue of the recent green lantern series, where he sneaks hal out of the house and takes him up in his plane.I guess the reason it resonated with me so much is because i never knew my father, and i wish i could have atleast had a moment with him like this, the other moment would be the end of the phoenix saga, though im not sure what number that issue was.

Runaways vol. 2 #18.

My favorite series and I love every character, and walking in knowing a character death was coming and not knowing who it was, and then the way house every single character had at least one moment where you thought they where going to bite it, and finally it happens. I was in tears.

yeah man, that one was a good one. I need to go buy that series again.

another one of mine
Hulk #207
it's an oldie and i know you guys hate old books so i will just give you a brief synopsis.
Jarella the queen and the hot babe of the sub atomic universe world that the child like hulk loved was killed. She came to our world, and while trying to save a kid as a wall was about to flatten his ass( Captain stacy where have i seen that before?)she died and Hulk being a kid didnt know what death was.He goes to see Dr Stange to bring her back to life.Doc can't fix her and Valkryie has to try and explain what death was to the child like Hulk. Man you talking about sad ass.Of course he was so royally pissed he goes off.. cause well he's the hulk and that's what he does. sniff sniff.... please someone hand me a tissue.

I know I'm probably going to get criticised for this, But final pages of the Clone Saga: When Pete and MJ are consoling one another over the "stillbirth" of their baby. That was touching.

I HEREBY CRITICIZE YOU.

(Your prediction is fulfilled. Now you can become a psychic and charge people $$$ :D)

hulk -
where his friend with aids dies, that was touching.

I want to say it was a Spider-Man Unlimited issue maybe? The one where the handicapped kid almost gets killed by Morbius, but Spidey saves him. Then he unmasks in front of him and winks before swinging away. All told by the kid's perspective.

Amazing.

He had aids. Hulk could possibly have saved him too (this was at a time when the green hulk, gray Hulk, and Banner were merged into one body and mind known as Banner-Hulk or Professor-Hulk) with a blood transfusion. However, he would never want to curse him by transforming him into a Hulk-like monster so he had to let him die.

The Hype discriminates against black skins. :o

Anyway, I can't recall any comic ever making me cry. I've gotten choked up over TV shows and movies, but never a comic.

Stuff like that usually just gets me angry in comics rather than sad.

Last time a comic made me really angry was when Sodam put up that pathetic "fight" against SBP after all the Ion hype and blessing from the space whale :cmad::down:

wow! i am telling you man! read "the death of captain Marvel"(if you already haven't) you will be bawling like a kid after he brings home a report card full of F's!

Even characters that I like a lot in a story that I like a lot don't really make me cry. When Cap died, it was a pretty emotional scene, but I wasn't really all that sad. I guess I'm too jaded by comics, since I know everyone who dies will eventually be brought back and every poignant plot point or character development will eventually be undone. It's the nature of never-ending serialization.

^ i agree totally when i read Captian Marvel i was a kid and still at the Holy S*^$!!!now they come back they they always come back and i'm jaded too.

ff -
reed tries to enlist the help of doc ock to save the life of his unborn child, they battle, reed convinces him in the end but by the time they reach the hospital sue has miscarried. touching.

When Peter Parker found out he was a clone. I cried my eyes out and while raising my fists to the heavens in protest, I was consumed by nerd rage and threw my collection (into the garage) vowing never to read comics again.

Well, buy comics.

Well, buy as many comics.

Well, be more selective in what I buy.

It's the returns of Jason Todd and Barry Allen, more than anything else, that have made me so jaded about character deaths. Not just because they came back, but because they came back after really great characters had filled the roles they once occupied in really fantastic ways. It seems a shame to throw all of that away and return to the old status quo.

Been there, done that.

And mine usually ends with:

Well, screw all that. I'm a ****e. I know it. My LCBS knows it. Marvel knows it. Here's my credit card. Have at thee.....rassinfrassinmotherf%^&%&^
