Satire doesn't HAVE to be humorous.
Burton comments on and ridicules the self absorbed and greedy yuppie culture of the 80s by using Joker as a villain who uses peoples self absorbed and greedy nature against them. That is satire.

I never said its purpose was humor, I said satire usually achieves its purpose of self-ridicule by expressing it in a humorous or sarcastic way. You want perfect examples of satire? Watch American Psycho or Dr. Strangelove. Not B89.
