Has the MCU peaked?

The Batman is doing amazing. Is going to be interesting when Thor and Dr. Strange comes out.

Creatively the MCU is past its peak. Commercially it probably still has a few billion dollar films left in it, though it'll be hard to top Endgame.

That Dr. Strange drop...............

I mean it's still a decent return but I'm still on the MCU has peaked and may see a decline. I honestly don't think Thor will make more than Ragnorak because of a lot of issues which I won't address but I just think that Marvel needs to rethink some of it's future moves because I do think it has peaked and it is not to big to fail.

I'll be surprised if it doesn't top Ragnarok. I see it coming in a little below DS OW numbers, but being much more fan friendly and having much better legs. I see about 1B.....and that's without some big territories.

I think Thor will open big but if those changes are true, I see it doing BvS drops the next weekend. Marvel is making some real questionable moves right now.

I predict Taika makes a very fan friendly movie

I liked Ragnarok the movie but did not like how they made Thor a joke...............IDK just not liking what I'm seeing lately with Marvel but we will see............

Has it peaked at the Box Office? Most likely but that was always going to happen when you finish an arc and most of your OGs are gone.

Has it peaked in quality? No. I think they have more room they can grow now that they are out of the set up for Avengers buuutttttt if they are trying to build up to the next event, it's taking a hot minute and I feel like I'll be 40 by the time it hits.

They don't feel all over the place to you? The multiverse, Kang, magic, Cosmic, Egyptian gods, mutants, F4 and other issues I refuse to get into but kind of obvious the direction they are going..................IDK..............the future for the MCU does not look bright at all. People blamed the pandemic for Shang Chi and Eternals we will see by the end of this year who was right........

The pandemic has changed a lot of people and how they do things.

As far as being all over the place...Not so much. I dont need EVERY project to connect to a future plot. They are finally really getting into world building but I get it. We spent a decade leading up to an event and was fairly tight.

It isn't all over the place so far. Its actually very easy to catch up even though it might overwhelm some people. The Tv shows are improvement from pre D+ Marvel shows and much shorter.

We know characters like Shang-Chi and the Eternals are part of the larger universe, and we would eventually see them perhaps in the neXt Avengers. These aren't characters that just got their own movie that wouldn't connect/interact with other Marvel characters.

The Tv shows. WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Hawkeye and Loki are basically featuring leads that had a prominent role in the previous MCU movies. While time will tell how Moon Knight fits in into the overall narrative of the mcu. Ms. Marvel will appear in The Marvels. She Hulk has Bruce Banner. Echo and House of Harkness are basically spin offs of the previous series. So its all connected.

While the cartoons might seem eXtraneous. They would probably be referenced in future movies like What If.

This isn't like FoXverse and DC movies in which not all films don't share the same continuity.

I think people have rose-tinted glasses on when it comes to the Infinity Saga. Folks say that it felt like those movies were all building towards something but were they really? Some of the movies featured the infinity stones as MacGuffins and we had 3 Thanos teases (The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy and Age of Ultron) but that was it.

Phase 4, on the other hand, is clearly building towards incursions and Secret Wars. So far we have had Loki, No Way Home and Multiverse of Madness with Quantumania coming in less than a year.

And almost every new phase 4 project is introducing the next generation of heroes/Young Avengers. Elijah Bradley/Patriot in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Billy/Wiccan & Tommy/Speed in WandaVision, kid Loki in Loki, America Chavez in Multiverse of Madness, Kate Bishop in Hawkeye, Yelena in Black Widow, Cassie Lang/Stature in Quantumania, Kamala in Ms. Marvel, JaneThor in Love & Thunder, Riri Williams/Ironheart in Wakanda Forever etc.

Lastly, Feige is establishing the supernatural side of the MCU with characters like Black Knight, Blade, Moon Knight, Werewolf by Midnight and Elsa Bloodstone leading up to a Midnight Sons project.

We're less than two years into Phase 4 and we have a pretty good idea where it's headed.

i hope they announce that phase 5 starts in 2024.

I kinda feel ocd that phase 4 has like 20 chapters already.

The Phase 1-3 films built on characters and interrelationships so that the end mega battle would mean a lot. Actual time devoted to the Infinity Stone plot was not much across all the films till it came to time for the main event (which is why we needed them to be explained almost from scratch by Wong).

I think Phase 4 has been easy to follow to date. Not every project in the Infinity Saga was about the stones, and not everything here is going to tie into the multiverse. Is Moon Knight really any more of a detour than say Ant-Man or Spider-Man: Homecoming were? It's plain as day that the Endgame here is Secret Wars. Like, super duper obvious. Any person with even a cursory knowledge of Marvel can figure that out by now.

I also wouldn't write off an Eternals sequel coming. I still think it will get one, but they may toss Thor or someone like that in as a guest star to drum up interest. That is what they did in the comics when that series died, afterall.

I think Eternals II will definitely happen, maybe with a proper Black Knight if all of them are back in Earth.

Thor fell a little short of it's expectations I see. That drop next week though.............

I think it’s too soon to say, we need to see how they handle Doom, Galactus, Silver Surfer, F4, and X-Men. We need to see how Secret Wars shakes out and hopefully a return from RDJ, Johansson, and Evans. Until then, it remains to be seen.

We're 15 years into this, it's far from to soon lol

I don’t really agree when all these major players have yet to be introduced, but if we’re looking at what they’ve put out up until now, then yes, they peaked with Endgame. Phase IV has been rocky.

Phase 4 has been so below mediocre. With the the moves and shows released so far, there has been no build to the overarching story.

Phase Four has not been very good so far. The Disney+ shows are all suffering from similar issues (filler content, mediocre finales, dodgy special effects), and most of the movies have been forgettable with some of them being outright bad. Considering the MCU's whole schtick has been interconnectivity and "building towards something bigger," Phase Four has felt pretty aimless, and like they're trying to find their way again. Unless they start putting out quality content on a more consistent basis, I have to admit that the whole thing is losing a bit of steam with me. Especially when they're producing as much content as they are now. If they keep assaulting us with mediocrity it's going to burn people out real quick.

When I look at Phase 1, 2 and 3, for me at least, it felt like the phases got progressively better.

Now, I understand that Kevin Feige said Phase 4 would be a new beginning. But while it wouldn't be bigger than Phase 3 in terms of scale, I thought the quality would continue to improve. But I enjoyed Phase 3 movies more.

However, I also have to say that I really appreciate them taking more risks, and I loved WandaVision. And I hope they continue this path.
