Have you ever gotten fired?

Are some of you just getting fired for being *******s?

That's an ongoing conspiracy.
I'd like to think they are the *******s.

Just a victim of a company downsizing. Nothing more.

I've been fired twice.

First time, I was working meeting services for a hotel / conference center. Basically, I was with a team of people that set up rooms for conferences and business meetings on the premesis. My manager pulled me aside one day and told me I wasnt doing as good a job as was expected of me. I asked him to tell me specifically what I could improve on, but he couldn't tell me. He just said I needed to get better overall.

A few weeks later when I came in for my shift, he pulled me aside again and told me I hadn't improved since the last time we talked about it. I told him I didn't know what was expected of me because he couldn't tell me where I needed improvement and none of my coworkers had any issues with my performance.

Alas, I was within my 90 day probationary period so it was within their right to terminate me, and the job wasnt good enough to fight over.

2nd time was from Chili's. I had picked up a second job cuz I was getting no hours at chilis and had no promise of moving up. Again, it was a similar situation - management told me I needed to improve, but would never tell me what I needed to improve. Soon, coworkers were going to management for me to tell them how much work I did around the restaurant and deserved to be moved up to server, but then the managers changed their story to how I had a great work ethic and always got stuff done and my abilities were never in question, but they just didn't have room for me as a server.

Well basically, I got scheduled for shifts from both jobs at the same time over an entire weekend, so I decided to no show my chilis shifts and go to the shifts at my new job. I was fired for a weekend full of no shows.

I also almost got fired from my first job at the movie theatre, but due to timing I was able to quit.

I was working concessions and some friends came in. They wanted me to hook them up. I told them I couldn't. My manager was watching the convo from afar, and the girls wouldn't leave. One was like "lets just go" the other kept insisting I hook her up. I kept telling her no.

Afterwards my boss took me into his office and accused me of stealing. I confessed to giving away some free drinks in the small sample cups, and he suspended me and had police escort me off the property. When my suspension was over I went in to quit. The management was just going to fire me, but my department manager wasnt there so I was able to quit. I probably could have gotten them for a lot of stuff if I wasnt 16 years old and didnt know any better.

**** ass job.

I've had 7 jobs my entire life and I've been fired from 4 of them. Bear in mind that two of those jobs I quit after one day because they weren't right for me. Come to think of it, none of those jobs were right for me.

Once.
I was a store manager who was forced to step down to assistant. A month after that I was hospitalized. I came back to find a write up for missing work, even though I informed the proper people of the situation. I got in my DMs face about it. About a month after that I was fired.

Once and it was my last job, been unable to get back to work since.

Long story but I had some time off and I received an email about some work that apparently were not upto standard and the clients were upset and I have let down my coworkers etc. So I emailed my boss explaining my annoyance that he emailed me during holidays(also just before my birthday) and that I didn't like that all the blame is being placed on me. There were other factors involved such as clients changing things last minute, correct images not being supplied etc.

Anyway cut to the day I was due in, I was hoping to be fired because I'd rather not quit but I was uneasy about working in that environment any longer. I arrived and I got my wish, I had been paid that day as it was the first of the month and I got a pretty good severance cheque and I was on my way lol.

About a year down the line one of my co-workers had a similar situation with him which is a shame because that guy in particular worked is butt off for him. Long hours, studying new techniques to get the job done etc.

Funny thing is though I still work for him now, but as a freelancer. However in this climate I'd like to return to work and get a steady wage.

Oh I'm a Web Designer by the way :P
