Have you ever made a big move and relocated? Was it when you were a kid because of parents' jobs, or perhaps when you went off to college or older? How big of a move was it? Different city, different state/province or even country? How'd you feel about it.

I've personally lived in the same city practically all my life and I'm seriously considering/planning a change.

Share some stories. What's it like?

I moved to Chicago from the South on a bit of a whim. I took a vacation to Chicago to hang out with some friends that lived here and about a month later I moved up. It was a bit of a change in that I'm not really a "city" guy...not fond of crowds, loud places, etc. But it's been an interesting experience. I've never had closer friends, and I've learned things I never would have thought I'd learn.

My father works for Shell so I moved Continents often in my childhood.

biggest move for me was moving from NJ to PA, so........no.

When my dad was still an active Marine. We moved from base to base like any typical military family would. The biggest move during that time was from Hawaii (1 base) to California (3 bases).

Bah i was a Air Force brat....we moved around the country for my entire childhood.

I just recently moved from San Jose, CA to Murfreesboro, TN.

It's been good, my brother lives out here with his family, so I've had a chance to spend a lot of time with him, and my nephews.

It's been pretty easy making new friends here too. It's really my first time out on my own. I had that instance back in November and December where I was living with some friends, got screwed, and moved out. I then decided to come out here to Tennessee. I'm enjoying it.

Made a big move on yo mama last night... OH SNAP!!!

Urm, actually I've moved about a dozen times in my life, all within this province though. Worked well into messing up my bonds and such.

I spent a nice-sized portion of my childhood making big moves. I was born in Chicago, which has been my home most of my life, but by the time I was 7 I'd lived in California, (which I don't remember at all) other parts of Illinois (which was cool) & Florida. (I #$&*^%in' HATED Florida.)
THen at 18 I went into the military, which had me bouncing around a lot before the end of my enlistment, at which point I settled back in in my hometown.
And I recently made a big move. A few months ago I reconnected with a lost love, who had herself relocated to Kansas City. After much debate & deliberation, I am now a resident of KC as well. I'm still adjusting. It's a very hilly area & I have to get used to driving around here (I haven't driven in YEARS) & learning the streets. I miss my family some & the restaurants are drastically different. I'd watch a Britney Spears video right now for some Dunkin' Donuts coffee. But it's cool. A small price to pay to be with her.

my dad was an evangelist so we traveled all the time...but then my dads friend needed a pastor for his church so we moved from michigan to texas...

Nah, nothing big. Just within the same town.

I plan on moving to Cali after school, though. Quite a big jump from Pennsylvania.

Um, a couple. When I was 2, we moved from Okinawa to Illinois (my father was stationed there in the U.S. Air Force).

When I was 5, we moved from Illinois to Oregon. I've lived there since, though we've changed houses a couple of times.

I moved from New York to Cali then Cali to New Hampshire then NH to Cali again. It's been hard since all my relatives are in the east coast and don't like to travel. Also it's been tough to basically start your life over again since your so far away from your old home and friends.

We moved about 5 times. I've lived in 3 different European countries, had to learn a new language and forgot one of my mother tongues.

I felt horrible about moving (especially the last time), leaving your friends behind can be crushing. And I still pretty much mourn about not being in my country of birth anymore.

Every country I've lived in so far was a good place to live in, just the moving itself was unpleasant.

I moved from a small town in northeastern Maryland to Houston, TX. From there, after I got married, we moved to Akron, OH. From there to El Paso, TX. And now I'm in Marietta, GA. So, yeah, I've made a big move or two, of four.

Back in 94 we moved from Sydney to Manchester because my Grandad was ill. Were planning to move back there once ive finished school/college :)

Moved from Ontario to Michigan to marry an American girl. It was only across the river (windsor to detroit) but the whole country to country/visa/work permit thing was quite an ordeal.

Edit: Also made the same trip back to Windsor after the marriage didn't work out. Quite a bit easier considering there was no paperwork needed for that move.

I Moved from Dayton Ohio to SW Florida for a Job. It's been a great move, I'd rather see sand and Beaches than Snow and Corn anyday.

I'm thinking of moving from South FL to either New England or Chicago. Possibly even the Pacific Northwest. I'm trying to figure out who has a cheaper cost of living and a good job market (specifically the graphics, marketing & advertising fields).

I can do Ken's flaming hyper dragon punch finish in Marvel Vs Capcom 2.

Lets see, I moved from Geneva to Teheran then to Beverly Hills via Paris and New York then to Paris then to London then back to Paris and then to New York back to Paris and then to London and then back to Paris with my last move here to Geneva.

This is of course places I have gone to for over 12 months.

I have 70% of my things in storage in Paris given I pretty much bought all new furniture here in Geneva.
