Comedy HBO's The Righteous Gemstones

Great first two episodes. I'm so glad it's back.

Jody Hill is what's missing from the DGG/McBride Halloween movies. Those three knock it out every time.

“Where’s the littlest son we have who’s been ****ing on things?”

McBride is wild.

If I knew anything about the Jonas Brothers, I probaby would've been able to recognize that was Nick Jonas in the second episode. But hey, he's married to Sophie Turner, so now they're both getting those HBO checks. Win-win-win.

Great two episode premiere. When that one pastor talked about killing himself...only to wind up living and having two broken legs, yeah, that was a great start.

I about died when I first saw Pontius's bleached hair. But then the story took a turn to the younger son's... antics. Took me a while to see that BJ still has his earring, which is great. And his wine glass of milk at the Sun dinner always kills me. It was great to see Cassidy Freeman getting more to do. Her and Judy were great. Joe Jonas' guest appearance was great.

I am glad that I rewatched the first season, because when it came out, I thought the Gemstones were based in Texas, not South Carolina. Luckily, I caught that on a rewatch. I was quite confused with some of the trailers, though.

Both premiere episodes were great, and I can already tell I'm going to love Eric Andre and Eric Rober's characters this season even though we were just introduced to them.

God, that scene of BJ roller blading in the amusement park. Hell, just the way he was telling the story to Judy and Jesse.

That also wasn't the explanation I was expecting from Eli about the blood on his pants...

Oh god, its happening, isn't it.....

EDIT: It didn't happen. But Judy totally married her cousin.

I was honestly sure we were in for that reveal as soon as BJ talked about his father not being in the picture.

I've never seen a baptism as exciting as that one. And yeah, that scene in the bathroom was amazing. Eli cracking Kelvin's thumbs and the quick cut to him being carted into an ambulance reminded me of the end to the zipper scene in There's Something About Mary.

You know what moment I mean.

I could've sworn this show already got renewed for a third season, but glad to know- again?- that it'll be back. Great news nonetheless.

HBO has been pretty generous to the McBride/Green/Hill shows so I'm not surprised it got picked up for a third season. This season has been pretty wild so far.

There was a report a few months back, but none of the trades were running with it, so I figured that publication was just jumping the gun.

So, some info I just found out about KJ's actress, Lilly Sullivan. Apparently she is BJ's actor, Tim Baltz's fiancee. So, I think we figured out where the idea for that confrontation with Judy originated.

lol I just saw one of the entertainment sites remark about Judy being completely insane as though that’s something new. Did they just not watch her tell her story about her professor in S1?

Jesus, that young Jesse is perfect casting.

Young Judy too. Its almost scary.

Not gonna lie, I am very curious what the story about Amy Leigh is about.

Well, that certainly was a way to both start and end the episode....
