Regarding Lauren: Shelby has a deep-seated hatred of fathers, who are all men. He felt abandoned by his mother, but he didn't hate her the way he hated his father. I think they implied he even visited her in the hospital. Shelby also doesn't try to kill Madison until she stumbles literally right into his secret and knows for a fact that he's the Origami Killer.

So the fact that Lauren is a woman probably explains why he didn't instantly kill her when she started nosing around. After that, I think their relationship was quite genuine, at least on some level. Shelby seemed to like her and they grew close, so he was even more reluctant to kill her.

And, of course, when Kramer tries to kill both of them, you do have the option of leaving her to die there, if you want to play Shelby as an amoral killer.

As for sequels, I think QD should make a new game with a new plot and new characters, but leave it in the HR universe. Maybe have some nice easter egg references to Jayden's latest case in the papers or something, but I want to see what else they can come up with rather than milking HR for more.

I think I have a plot hole as well:
How does Madison know Shelby? She learns who the killer is by talking to his mother and having her whisper his name--which would've been "Scott Sheppard." I don't think she and Shelby ever met or had any kind of interaction whatsoever before that scene. So she has a name. You'd think she'd have to look into it and figure out who adopted him, given that Mama Sheppard was so loopy with Alzheimer's that she could barely muster Scott's name at all, let alone the foster parents'. But she reacts like she instantly knows who Mama Sheppard's talking about, and then her very next scene has her going to Shelby's office. Either Madison's a phenomenal reporter, able to track a relatively low-key PI down in like an hour, or the writers just glossed over the fact that she would have no idea who "Scott Shelby" is.

Ive seen it speculated that she reacted that way bc she knew the name as a cop and was shocked that one could be a killer but that falls apart when she is surprised that he was once a cop when she goes through his things. Maybe she knew him as a PI in the past while working on some other stores. I have no clue to explian that one.

Oh and she didnt track him down in an hour. She visits Ann Sheppherd around 9:00am and doesnt make it to Shelby's apartment till 6:30pm. I wonder exactly what she was doing in all that time bc thats quite a gap, unless she was staking his place out waiting for him to leave.

that would be cool.

I have some questions myself
1. How did Madison know that Ethan was in the aprtment where the 3rd trial is? He never tells her about that. If you look int he box with the origami stuff, she never opens the figure up to get the address, yet she shows up right when he needs her.
2. Why would she think to find out who w
as renting the apartment out? That place looked like an abandoned building to me in which no one lived in. Even the police suspected that Madison lived there but everything about the place suggested that it was not functioning or liveable. For them to suspect that anyone was living there and for her to think anyone was renting it was a bit of a stretch. As an abandoned building, it made more sense that the killer chose that for the trial, bc no one would be going there. I dont see the logic in not thinking that way, but instead thinking he he involved someone else in his plot by renting it out

Well, if there's a big gap in time, I guess we can assume that she did indeed use some investigative journalist know-how to piece together who "Scott Sheppard" became and track him down. Then I guess she could've waited for him to leave.

yea i caught that my second time through. thats a pretty big hole.

This is what my current PS3 theme looks like. Id definetly reccomend getting it to anyone

Just a tip for any of you trophy hunters, but I'm pretty sure the Happy Birthday trophy only works on a New Game playthrough. You can't just go to prologue from chapter select. Heads for those of you who may be planning to get all the trophies, but all your got wiped during the error
thats not true. I just got it via loading up the prologue from a game save

WOW, i just finished the game. AMAZING! ive never been so hooked to a game. My only disappointment with my data was that i ended up getting Jayden to quit the FBI. When he was trying to solve it i couldn't see anyway to get more evidence that would point to someone other than Blake...so i went with it. I must of missed a piece at a crime scene i think. ah well that's what replays are for i guess.

Just replayed the
Manfred killing scene and the way the game did it, its very plausible that Scott killed him. When Manfred is killed, the camera focuses on Lauren and the figure she picks up. We hear the loud sounding of the clocks ticking to drown out any noise from the back. When the camera pans back on Scott, he shakes his head as if something just went wrong. If you hear his thoughts he says "Lauren thinks she's about to find the killer; boy is she in for a surprise" When you do go back there and the phone is off the hook, he tells Lauren that the killer called 911, which is a lie. Manfred did and died while making the call. I think people saw this as a copout bc they werent looking for it, but on a second playthorugh you can notice the details more. Everything about Shelby is making alot more sense to me. Aside from the age issue, he fits as a the killer perfectly and Im not running into anything specific that would necesarily contradict that.

I was gonna ask about that, i thought the camera was always on Shelby so i was very confused when it showed him killing that old guy. I thought that was the MASSIVE plot hole i heard about in the story.

Did you find the gas station bills? When you have those, you need to do a geographical search and can narrow down the suspects.

the biggest break in the case is the fight in Paco's office. watch the video ARI records and look for his watch. also review the gas receipts you find on the floor from his pocket. those two give you the killer.

yes. ARI is your friend :yay: ([BLACKOUT]when its not trying to kill you [/BLACKOUT]).

Yeah...i didnt spend alot of time in that office..next time i will. So i guess if you clock shelby as the killer he's there with Madison and Ethan at the end? i ended up killing Shelby after he chased Madison up a crane lol

EDIT:i also LOVED the spin on the ARI thing, that Jayden was addicted to it and not a drug. that was an awesome twist on it i think.

You don't need to find out as Jayden that Shelby is the killer. In my playthrough, I had Madison give him a call. So, even though I accused Blake, Jayden didn't quit the FBI, because he was there to help bring the Origami Killer down.

aah, I had Madison call Ethan cos my sole focus for the whole thing was making sure i saved the kid. I cant wait for my second play through now. Hopefully Shelby will stay alive this time so i can bring him to justice haha

I cant wait for the DLC episodes now. My mate rented it for me (because he broke my chair) so im defo gonna have to buy it now.

Same here. But I thought sending the cops would probably a better choice, than having a completely battered dad handle it all alone.

Anyone here play through the Taxidermist DLC, yet? It doesn't outright address one of the plot holes we've talked about, but may hint at it:

Apparently, Madison was actively investigating after the Origami Killer before the events of the game. I'm thinking one of the reasons she knew of Selby and Jayden was because they may have crossed paths in all their individual investigations. It's still poor storytelling that we weren't told that, but I think that may be a possibility.

Also, knowing she was going after the killer I think she might have also been following Ethan after the Motel and finding that Origami dog in his coat pocket. That's probably how she knew where to find him during that one trial.

Also, the DLC was really short. Only took me about half an hour to get all five endings.

The best way to do it is visit the site(s) from your PS3 browser and download it straight to the console

You have to create a folder on your drive that says PS3 and within that another one that says THEME. Place your themes in that

I thought of that and I already had Ethan on his way to the warehouse in his most recent scene before that, but I called Ethan anyway because I had Madison and Ethan falling in love and I figured Madison would want him to know any information about the killer more than anyone else. Plus, she didn't know he was already on his way.

Pretty much my thinking. Im gonna have to buy the game now when i get paid and play through again to get jayden there. Or i may just chapter select it...thats seems to be the way to get trophies and stuff part from a few of them.
