Hellboy 2 confirmed

For those of you that don't know, Universal originally wanted Hellboy to be played by Vin Diesel, and to transform into Hellboy (Not a Captain Marvel rip-off at all, really.)

From the triva page on IMDb:
When del Toro met with producers, many changes to the Hellboy character were suggested. One idea was to have Hellboy be a human who transforms into Hellboy when he gets angry. Another suggestion was that he came from hell but was a normal human. del Toro vetoed all such attempts to alter the character.

I understand that they also wanted him to be a teenage boy who said a magic word and transformed into Hellboy (like Flexo said), they didn't want him to be red, they didn't want his name to be Hellboy and they also wanted him to have a pet Hell dog and drive around in a Hellmobile.

Thank all the gods in the heavens that GDT stood up to them and got the movie he did. Vin Diesel as Hellboy? *shudder*

Guillermo really did do a great job bringing Hellboy to life.

Sure, it may be different from the comics, and there were some flaws, but the movie still came out much better than I expected.

Besides, what other director would give us a character as twisted as Kroenen?

I'm kinda torn by the thought of Universal taking up Hellboy. On one hand, it's great that somebody's finally picked up the sequel.

On the other hand, Universal has a tendency to milk its monster- and horror-related franchises to death, often an early one.
