We knew the Hellboy sequel wasn't at Sony Pictures anymore, but director Guillermo del Toro revealed at Fangoria's Weekend of Horrors that it's now at Paramount. iFMagazine.com reports:

"We're moving studios right now," says Del Toro. "They don't have a deal with Sony any more and we are looking for financing for HELLBOY 2. It's at Paramount right now. It's bigger in scale, but not necessarily in budget. Abe Sapien has a much bigger part, and we're keeping closer to the mythology of the comics." Del Toro giggled with glee as he revealed a singer whose music would be part of the film. "There is a song by Barry Manilow, and you'll have to find out about how that fits in. I know you are all saying 'what the f**k is that?!'"

when should we expect it? is anyone else still excited? and like Del Toro said, what's up with the Barry Manilow song?

Thank god this happened, i really want to see a sequel to this movie.

Remember it isn't a done deal yet - Paramount is ONLY looking at the script and talking budget - it's not yet cut and dried. BUT ... if the studio has any sense the film will be snapped up in a moment - I hope Paramount has the gumption to recognise a good 'un when it sees it.

Well, its not the quality of the movie they would worry about, GDT is guaranteed to put out an entertaining movie, but how much would it make?

there better be a damn hellboy 2! As 1 was brilllliantttt..and i bought some fake shares on it on www.hsx.com, and it better make me some money lol

I think it might come out in mid 2007 or early 2008. I loved the first movie, but I wonder what it'll be about. Who will be the villains? Sorry I don't know much about hellboy.:hellboy:

Thank goodness. I'm glad this hasn't taken the 'Ghostbusters 3' route. The first movie was realy enjoyable. Infact, it got me into the stories. Now I have nearly all the TPBs, save "The Conquerer Worm".

For a storyline, a while back it was said by Del Toro that he wanted a mythologically backed story, whereas the first was more Lovecraftian. And for a good Hellboy story that deals with mythology, I suggest "The Bones of Giants" by Christopher Golden.

This one has an entirely new villian, who raises an army of mythological creatures against mankind - with only a big red demon, a blue fish-guy, a fire-starter and an ectoplasmic entity called Johann to stop them.

And as an aside, I have always loved BONES OF GIANTS - it would make a fantastic film. Perhaps if HB - Animated goes to series, they'll adapt it for that.

Sequel sounds great, i really hope it gets made. Whats "The Bones Of Giants" about anyone?

The gods of Asgard, the axe Mjollnir, Copenhagen, Ice Giants, Nidavellim, Fenrir the wolf, and a very nice young lady called Pernilla who is very attracted to Abe. Brilliant story.

I can't wait to see Johann on film. I wish Lobster Johnson could be worked in somehow though. Even as just a TV show that HB watches or something.

Ahhh I am definitely excited for this. I may be one and alone, but Hellboy was one of my personal all-time favorite films ever.

I'll be out at the Comic-Con hunting for any and all Hellboy 2 tidbits I can get!!

I'm pretty sure that there will be a HELLBOY - ANIMATED presence, and keep your eyes open for a couple of folks more closely related to the film itself ... ;)

Stayin' alive! Stayin' alive! Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! Stayin' alive!

Sorry. Title reminded me of that song. Good news. I loved the first one.

Sounds interesting, i may read it.

I don't recall if Guillermo said there would be a Pan's Labyrinth panel during SDCC so, that may also be a good time to ask the HB2 questions. Guillermo had told me something about SDCC specific collectables. Look out for that stuff.

I know there's definately something going on for Hellboy animated there so, be sure to pickup the free swag that's sure to be associated with that.

It's the best non-Mignola written Hellboy storyline. A MUST read. Not a maybe.

I believe it's being worked on - I only hope it isn't scheduled at the same time as HB Animated. But it would be cool if they were on the same day - give folks a chance to see both and meet up with Tad, GdT et al. There may be a cast member from both PAN & HB:Animated there too, if all goes well.

I just hope we get some more HB2 news soon, something concrete would be nice.

Hang in there Del Toro!

All kinds of ass, but i think the action scene's could be improved upon in the sequel.
