Hellboy 2 in Ireland?

Admittedly, not a Hellboy fan. I haven't even seen the first film, but my interest piqued when I heard that it's filming in Ireland? THe Giant's Causeway amongst other places?

I hear it's also borrowing from Irish mythology and the Tuatha de Danann etc... Can anyone please elaborate on the connection between this film and Ireland!?

They did some plate shots for backgrounds around the Giant's Causeway. The film itself is being shot in Budapest and London. The characters of King Balor, Prince Nuada of the Silverlance and Princess Nuala are beings from the Tuatha de Danann, but Guillermo has made them somewhat different from their namesakes.
