If you miss out on the best cinema offers because it's bleak, then you're going to miss out on alot of great films.

Amen, amen.

See Batman. It's well worth enduring a bit of bleakness. (Damn STYLISH and well executed bleakness.)

See Pan's Labyrinth, for that matter. Bleak? Absolutely. Stunning? Yes.

And, I mean, Hellboy?! Like, the last in the line of elves die out. The last forest god dies. "The world is poorer for it." That's KIND OF A BUMMER.

The first film was about Nazis trying to take over the world, the son of a demon, and had a guy belly-burst an octopus-like "god" out of himself while still alive. So the claim that Batman's the franchise with too much negativity is a bit backwards to begin with.

Not to mention that Hellboy's entire purpose is to bring about Ragnarok and destroy the world...

Just saw it this afternoon, and I loved it. del Toro is a visionary.

well heres my opinion: Hellboy is better than the whole character of Batman.

I liked this movie. Not as good as it could have been, maybe, but damn enjoyable.

I had one minor problem with it, and it's a holdover from the first film as well: Hellboy's makeup. Specifically, his arms and torso. The face looks great. The body looks great too, but only when he's wearing the coat and standing up. Anything else and it looks pretty bad. Especially when he's sitting down.

I was quite let down that they didn't have Abe showcase any of his fighting skills. :csad:

It's the strangest thing, I sort of forgot about this movie, despite seeing the trailer in front of TDK... It comes out August 21 over here, and now I think about it I'm actually kinda looking forward to it again.

Man, I wish HB2 was doin' better in the Box Office, I loved this movie, TDK is in my top 5, but HB2 is in my top 20...they just shouldn't have released this film a week before TDK. Oh well! Loved it!!!

this poor movie. i loved every bit of it and hope to god it makes more money internationally and with DVD sales. I really want to see a third.

Yeah, it was a really stupid move on Universal's part to release Hellboy 2 one week before the Dark Knight. They should have either released it earlier in the summer or waited for the Halloween season or something.

I'm glad the box-office is reflecting the actual quality of the movie. Despite the critics raging about this movie and the numerous creatures, it was a bore fest, weak storyline, slow pacing and ho hum action (can u imagine shooting your semi-auto at hundreds of mosquitoes as it flies around the room, plain stupid storytelling...). I'm hoping to see a 3rd end-of-the-world Hellboy but this movie's BO got it what it deserved.

Putting it out a week before TDK was possibly THE stupidest move they could have done, TDK had buzz going all through its production and Batman is just a bigger name than Hellboy period. I mean, did they honestly think it could compete? Ridiculous, unfortunately because of the studio's idiotic release date, a third movie happening is questionable at best.

Considering that most fans who saw it loved it, i have to disagree.

I think this is the first time we've ever agreed on anything.

Yes, it was possibly THE stupidest thing they could have done, in light of TDK's buzz and the simple fact that Batman's just a bigger name than Hellboy and probably always will be. And now the fate of the 3rd film is in peril all because of this one very bad move on the studio's part.
